For fuck's sake! It's like Spring Break in Bogota, Columbia right now!

As a study aid for the upcoming elections elections, let's count them off:

Rep. Mark "Four Fingers" Foley (R-Fla.)

Foley resigned from Congress on September 29, 2006 as allegations surfaced that he had sent sexually explicit instant messages[1] to male Congressional pages and former pages, including some who were minors.[2][3][4] As a result of the disclosures, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement opened investigations of the messages to find possible criminal charges.[5] The House Ethics Committee has also opened an investigation into the response of the House Republican leadership and their staff to earlier warnings of Foley's conduct.[6].

Maf54: do you really do it face down
Teen: ya
Maf54: kneeling
Teen: well i dont use my hand...i use the bed itself
Maf54: where do you unload it
Teen: towel
Maf54: really
Maf54: completely naked?
Teen: well ya
Maf54: very nice
Teen: lol
Maf54: cute butt bouncing in the air

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.)

[QUOTE]Hastert claimed at first that he had only learned of the e-mails the week when the news broke on September 29, 2006,[95] and repeated this declaration on October 5th.[96] Two other top leaders in the House, John Boehner and Tom Reynolds, however, have stated that they told Hastert about the Foley emails in the spring of 2006. Boehner added that Hastert replied that the complaint "had been taken care of", and confirmed his account under oath before the House Ethics Committee.[97] A September 30th statement by the Speaker's office said that Hastert did not "explicitly recall" the conversation with Reynolds but "has no reason to dispute" it.[78][84][98]

Hastert's office concedes, in its own chronology, that his top staffers Mike Stokke (deputy chief of staff), Ted Van Der Meid (legal counsel) and a lower placed assistant named Tim Kennedy were told about the Foley emails by Rep. Alexander's chief of staff in November of 2005.[78] They deny that Scott Palmer knew about the emails until they were made public, though. Hastert is unusually close to his top staffers; he lives with Palmer and Stokke, who have worked for him for decades, and they commute back to Illinois together on weekends.[20]

Jefferson - the freezer cash guy - is trying to take a page out of Maryon Barry's playbook. "Hell yeah, I gots mine! Nigga gotta eat! Vote fa ME!"

Jefferson is showing up at public events, ready to work the crowd and touting a record of passing key legislation and getting funds to help post-Katrina New Orleans. Recently he went on the offensive, publicly accusing two of his 12 opponents of being "ethically challenged."

"He's a formidable candidate," says Danny Ford, executive director of the Louisiana Democratic Party, which endorsed another candidate. "He's not been indicted or convicted. He's got a lot of support."

Twelve challengers -- eight Democrats, three Republicans and one Libertarian -- are running against Jefferson in the Nov. 7 election. Unless the winner gets more than 50 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff in December. Political observers said they expect Jefferson to be in a runoff and possibly win, unless he's indicted.

"He's got my vote. I like Jefferson," shop owner Charles Harris said as he finished up a haircut. "They haven't indicted him, number one. Whenever they come up with some concrete evidence, that might change things."

"I ain't voting for him 'cause of the $100,000 in the freezer," retorted one of Harris's customers, a former Jefferson supporter who declined to give his name. "You find $100,000 in your freezer, I ain't voting for you."

Word.

It's either that or I post 7,000 words on how that study was widely dismissed by the mainstream media and, although some pundits said the timing of the release of the study was designed to hurt repulicans, this has proved irrelevant because the figures were dismissed. And the government keep estimates on civilian casualties, which does leave itself open to whatever civilian institutions want to publish. And Americans generally don't give a shit about civilian casualties in Iraq.

And nice Orgazmo avitar. Nice to see someone actually saw that masterpiece. Should have won at least 6 oscars, but just goes to prove the Academy is totally rigged.

A federal judge yesterday sentenced David H. Safavian, a former top Bush administration official, to 18 months in prison for lying and concealing unethical dealings with lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Friedman [The judge] lamented that Washington has become "more and more corrupt," increasingly a home to greedy lobbyists and politicians on the take.

Safavian, 39, a former chief of staff for the General Services Administration, wept as he told Friedman that he knows now he never should have given Abramoff inside information about government-owned real estate that the lobbyist wanted to acquire. At the time, Safavian said, he thought what he was doing was innocuous. "I didn't see anything wrong in helping Jack," he said.

Safavian was a lobbyist and congressional aide until 2002, when he joined the GSA, the agency that oversees the purchase and leasing of billions of dollars in federal property around the country. He later became the government's top procurement officer at the Office of Management and Budget.

He was convicted in June of concealing facts about the 2002 golf trip as well as the help he gave to Abramoff, a longtime friend, in trying to acquire two GSA-controlled properties -- one of them the Old Post Office building on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The jury found him guilty of lying to the GSA inspector general and obstructing an inquiry by that office, as well as lying to the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and to a GSA ethics officer.

Trial evidence included stacks of e-mails showing that Safavian secretly maneuvered within the GSA to obtain information for Abramoff about properties he wanted to buy or lease. The two schemed to get members of Congress to pressure the agency for the information.

Safavian's lawyers said their client will appeal the conviction. Safavian is one of eight people convicted so far in the wide-ranging influence-peddling investigation into Abramoff's lobbying activities on Capitol Hill and in executive branch agencies. Earlier this month, Rep. Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) became the first lawmaker to plead guilty in the probe. Abramoff and several former congressional aides have pleaded guilty and are cooperating.

One of them, Neil G. Volz, a former Ney aide, went to work with Abramoff, went on the Scotland golf trip and was a central witness in the Safavian trial. Friedman said he was revolted by Volz's testimony that government officials prepared sworn declarations about lobbyist-paid trips based on what "would pass the smell test" -- not what was true. "I wanted to go home and take a shower," the judge said.
