The fundies make their voices heard, calls, letters, boycotts, etc. That's why politicians respond.

I'm registered as "Non-Affiliated" so I'm not tied to ANY party. Of course that also means I can't vote in PA primaries, but that's a small price to pay.

Strongly recommend against starting a small business right now. I run one with 2 people and work off and on from 6am - 11pm daily. 600$ a month for medical insurance, if I didnt have a big customer base off the bat, I'd be sunk.

I know I don't identify enough with either party to join one just to pick someone for a primary. The parties rarely (if ever) pick a candidate with moderate views - to those of us who are stuck in the middle (pre-emptive IMO) it makes more sense to let the parties select their candidates and choose the lesser of 2 evils from there.

Another issue is that PA is a Closed Primary state, meaning only people with party affiliations can vote and only for that party of which they are a member. However, some states have Open Primaries that allow you to choose what party to vote for at the polls, which allows for a lot more freedom. There are also different versions of both these types, but I want to keep things simple.

For independents, the best type of Primary would be Blanket Primaries, but they aren't used anymore. They were completely open, meaning you got to vote once per open office, regardless of the party.

... The more you know.
