I HATE to say this, but I am falling "out of love" with O&A. I haven't given up completely, but there just doesn't seem to be a need for me to listen like there used to be. The XM show has really been sliding in quality over the last few weeks.

I hope these are just growing pains.

EDIT: I was thinking a little more, and what REALLY bugs me is that if I ever tried to voice these opinions/concerns to O&A they would just tell me to quit listening - the show is not for me. I bought XM for O&A and have been a loyal fan since they syndicated to Philly the first time. I want the show to be successful and have legitimate concern for what is happening to the show. IMO they were better when they had fewer listeners and were still the underdog - now they are taking their position for granted.

Sorry, I guess I am just frustrated and needed to vent.

Now its Hey i am filthy rich, I baught this or i have that. And it is really hard to relate to. I don't if anyone else feels that way.

Yes, it is a character, and yes it is a shtick, and although it is very funny, the true genius of the gimmick is that he passes it off as real to people. On Da Ali G Show and in the Borat movie, all of the people reacting to the gimmick have no idea that it's a gimmick. It's all shot documentary-style with unsuspecting people as foils. What's great is that there's a line in normal society that you can't cross, but people will make allowances to people of other cultures because they assume that certain things are allowed in their cultures and/or that those people just don't know any better. To me, that's the real genius of the Borat gimmick, and the reason I'm really looking forward to the movie. That part of it really doesn't come across in Sasha Baron Cohen's junket appearances promoting the movie, because everybody knows its character.

perfectly put.

the stuff i'm hearing in interviews is kinda weak...very yakov-like.

but the videos, when the interviewee isnt aware its a gag...that shit is pure genius. maybe his biggest talent is keeping a straight face while his victim becomes more and more horrified and/or confused.

and getting the cowboy bar in a sing-along about killing Jews made me want to leave the country...i cant live with these people.

I don't think its a big deal. It's a different world in some places. My grandma lives in a small town in southwestern iowa where i think it wasn't till the early 30's or 20's that a sign was removed from the front of the town outlawing coloreds inside the town limits on warning of hanging. That was for real. It all stemmed from a family being and 2 girls being axed that is still kind of unsolved(*by the way this is the coolest unsolved case you'll ever read about and it's not a hugely popular crime. Do a search on Villisca axe murders), where the main suspect was a guy nicknamed blackie who was white. I still don't think there are any black people living in that town or around there. Their racism is really old school. My grandpa will say to me that boy is smart I think he has some jew blood in him. I didn't even know people were still doing the jew bit up unitl borat. I don't even know what my point is, other than they never meaing no harm.
I was driving home and listened to the first 3 "acts" of the Last Pest Standing. The girl wasn't too bad, but she was playing to the crowd and just insulting individual people by name who were part of the O&A online group. The two guys who followed her shit the bed.
