I've been sick for a week too. The doctor told me it was viral and I'd have to wait it out. Started in my throat, then to sinuses, now I have a horrible cough. Every time I've had bronchitis it's taken like 2 weeks to go away. Are you a smoker? Also the biaxin will take 2-3 days to work. Hope you feel better.

I drank a LOT of tea and it made me feel better.

Hot tea has always helped me - usually I have it with honey and lemon (or at least honey).

And, if you have one of the "new" strains of bronchitis you could be in for a tough one. Along with every other sickness in the world, bronchitis has been becoming stronger/more hearty as medicine and treatment have gotten better. I got bronchitis last year that I thought was going to kill me - it felt like I was breathing through mud. It took two full courses of meds to knock it out completely. Be aware of how you feel and don't hesitate to go back to the doctor if you don't start feeling better soon.

Good luck!

I had bronchitis about 2 years ago. It was HORRIBLE. It took like 2 weeks to go away. I was wondering when the fuck it would end. I went to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics and an inhaler. But basically from what I heard, it's a waiting game. You just have to wait until it leaves, and antibiotics don't really help that much.

Germ carriers.

Seriously, mucinex works, so does anything with zinc, (zicam), echinacea, steam baths with eucalyptus and peppermint can help clear you out.

Last year I bought green tea, added a bit of lemon and honey. For soup get Progresso Chicken Noodle, not Campbells.Too much salt.Cold Eaze helped. The Musinex (sp) sounds like that would help also.I know of a few people who are sick already.Seems to early in the year for people getting sick all ready.Get well soon.

Sip some hot chicken broth (get the clear kind from a Chinese place).
It will make your coughs more productive and coat your throat. I would NOT lay down. I would sit up or move about as possible (but dont run around, obviously), and get some fresh air tomorrow since it will be very nice. Laying down will spread the fluid in your lungs.

You poor bastard. I get bronchitis at least once a year. If I'm lucky it's bronchial pneumonia. I find that vicks, a pot of steaming water, and a towel works wonders on your sinuses and breathing. Besides, after a while it starts to make ya sleepy. Also, brew a pot of tea thats half green tea and half chamomile. A calming beverage with antioxident power. Woot. Stay warm and get lots of rest. Feel better!

Bronchitus sucks more than the flu in my opinion. At least you can speak more than 4 sentences before you start coughing up your guts. I had a nasty case of chronic bronchitus in 2000 in which I coughed and hacked and wheezed hard for over 2 months. I wound up getting bronchitus again in 2001 and that lasted for another month. I finally purchased an ionizer because I despise bronchitus and don't want to get it again from somebody else's germs in my own home. Been bronchitus free since. Wishful thinking would suggest I might have developed some immunity to it finally, but then again, maybe I've just been lucky. Since bronchitus is a virus, it never leaves your body, it just goes dormant and waits for something to get it riled up again. Learned that in biology 101.

Get an ionizer if you are willing to spend the money.

Oh yeah, and get better soon. I recommend quitting the smoking all together, but that's easy for me to say.
