hey look, its totally misses the point guy....
nobody said you couldn't criticize, the point is that a lot of messageboarders treat people like shit. I think when Blowhard says venomous he is exactly right.
the original example were fans booing A-Rod and yelling for his head after he has a bad game. The expectations are unreal and the criticism is caustic and overly angry.

I'm not going to scream censorship but if an on air personality can't stand the heat maybe they should get out of the booth. And if LEAST SIDE'S feelings are getting hurt he should find another occupation. His skin is translucent. I originally thought it was pigment thing but it's obviously a result of having too thin skin.

And you can go to any message board and pick out some bullshit to make it look worse than it is. I can't believe Dave for doing that myopic bullshit and taking a huge dump on the original r/f fan site which he used to be a part of right up until he got the gig with them. It had nothing to do with the "negativity". And why the hell should he be a mod anyway? Does it really even matter? He played the same role on this site that he does on the show. It's funny sure, but would you really want him in charge of booking guests or your personal site? Sorry Dave, but no fucking way.

You have to treat being online just like being in a group of people in real life.

Put it this way. If my sister was on the radio one day and you didn't like her performance and said so I wouldn't be offended.

If you said something like "she sounds like a slut" or went off about her in PERSONAL attacks then that would send me into a rage.

That's all Ron's saying. If you don't like something on the show, feel free to say it, but don't attack the fucking character of people... especially women. That's a line Ron drew because he's a classy guy. He may throw in a joke here and there, but that's his job. You don't think it makes him feel like shit to know that some joke he said on air has turned into a 50 man pile on a girl who has to live a real life 99.99% of the time and has to deal with that shit?

I'm not PC, but jesus, lay off the women with personal attacks

EDIT: With the guests, just think of it the same way. If you really hate a guy on the radio, say why. Don't drop shit like "olol j mor is a fag!!!!11" I'm sure that saying you don't get a bit or don't like a bit or don't want to hear a bit is one thing, but going at some guest with personal attacks is wrong.

Just because you hate one guest and never want to hear them again doesn't mean smash them with bile. That might scare off other guests you WILL enjoy.

I think most of the problem is that people think they are telling a joke, but it does not convey the same when you read it as you had intended it to. If people would just be a little more kind and say....Just Joking or something, maybe the Sarcasim that was intented can be better conveyed. This should also prevent some infighting and negativity.

Let's make one thing perfectly clear: you do not have the right to what you consider "free speech" here on RonFez.Net. This messageboard is privately owned and operated. You must conform to the rules set by the management of the site. Most of these rules are in the FAQs.

If I owned a corner convenience store and you walked in yelling "Give me a fuckin' cup of coffee you cocksucker!" I'd throw your ass out and tell you to never come back. Do you think you could sue me because I violated your "free speech?" Obviously not. It's the same thing here.

i know i haven't been here long, but this topic is familiar to me because every message board i've ever posted at or staffed has had this same arguement come up. NO message board is without rules. some are more relaxed than others, but when it really comes down to it, the person paying the hosting costs is the person who decides what he or she doesn't want to deal with.

regardless of what people tend to think, most message board mods or admins aren't power tripping assholes. sure some are, but most of the good ones know that unless they put certain restrictions in place, their forum is going to go to shit. its not always apparent how important that is, until they stop enforcing their own rules and the true idiots catch on... then it becomes obvious very quick.

I swear most of the stuff on here is just goofing on ESD's rather unique proclivities. I wonder if the liberal, free thinking Mr. B subscribes to such a heavy handed reaction from you? Sure there are assholes on this site. Me included. But what you find offensive doesn't necessarily mean it is offensive and worth censoring. don't you think that if it is as bad as you think, the hits on that particlular thread will be reduced to less than 10, and die a early, natural death. to me, it's like when the boys are goofing on kid touchers or raping woman. It makes me wince, I don't see the humor, (actually I do see the absurd element of the humor), but find that far more reprehensible than other things that are apparently regarded by you on this site as unacceptable. I don't call for a mass boycott when they go on about pederests, because in this country, on paid satelite, they are allowed to say whatever the hell they want, no matter how i personally feel, and thank god and the constitution for that. ESD is a prime target because he purports himself to be a buffoon. what does he expect? he fucks jelly and deflating blow up dolls. he has puppy love in the truest sense of the phrase, and i for one find him hilarious and a great addition to show for being the perfect foil for ron. but for him to have his feelings hurt, or to spread venom to callers who goof and insult him is just plain unfair. he made his bed, and he pisses in it, literally and figuratively. no, honorable omnipotent, and esteemed gvac, you can't win this argument because I say it's a flawed philosphy.

No need to patronize me, Rockvillejoe.
I feel sorry for all those poor callers. That mean old Ron Bennington is so mean to them when their views differ. I suggest that XM start telling him to cool it. I mean...hell. Feelings are being hurt. We don't want that. HAH! JUST KIDDING! But I'm making a point about censorship. It's one of those "slippery slope" things.

And I'm not buying the "message board is killing our potential guests" argument. Why do most top level guests come on? It's about selling shit for the most part. DOBBS=BOOK. MODINE=BOOK. On and on. If the R-F demographic approximates their potential customers they'll be on. If the argument was true, how does dog molesting dave affect the potential list of guests? I'd say they're just as likely to listen to the show to judge it as they are checking out this site. And if they listen to the show and don't get the cowbell deal? "Oh my. I won't do that show. That host is a madman! He throws things! Absolutely not."

Seriously lets not take this so literally! ESD also said nobody on this site listens to the show anymore and that is obviously bullshit. I've hung with Dave at a few events, softball games and more and he really is a funny fuck, but is the type to get attention any way he can. I like him, but turning this board into ass-licking bullshit isn't the answer at all. Sometimes fights come out for a reason (and can be very entertaining) and shouldn't be censored, but confined to one thread. If one doesn't want to be a part of it, don't read it or post in it. The same fucking thing that's always said about radio shows, violent movies, porn, some music and video games. For every fight here on rfnet there are thousands of shiny threads the act as text-based SSRIs. I understand that there are rules here, but a tiff here and there is no big deal especially when the parties involved have been a good-standing members for a long time and frequently attend events. The answer sure as hell isn't to shut down opposing opinions, but perhaps some better tact is in order from time to time. Yet sometimes people just ask for it and is Dave becoming one of them?

Perhaps I don't read the listener threads enough bc I'm working while I listen to the show live, but do people really rip the show? Do they really hate Ron or Fez at times? I can't see how and do they at least verbalize their reasons well? I love the show but a message board is always going to be a mix of all types of people. I've met a huge amount of awesome peeps from this site and learn who to respect and who to ignore. Sure some people just beg to be messed with and is it a big fucking deal? Man I'm rambling so I shutup and go mess with yankee fans. Now that's fun.

Thanks for not attacking me. I know other boards would have attacked me or even ignored me because my post count is low.

However, for the people who think it is a waste or time or childish to say negative remarks about Dave has to also think about all the other type of posts also. At the end of the day, does it really matter what any of our posts say or mean? Negative, positive or neutral? Does it really change anything? Not really. All posts, no matter the point, is just random thoughts of the show we all like. IF we didn't like it, would we even listen? IF we didn't like it, would we even join a message board?

He equals criticism of him as a negative attitude to the show? why ? and how did he sell that to ron and fez ? who made HIM dictator ? look love him or hate him it's your opinion and youre welcome to it....whats he doin ? 'IF YOURE NOT WITH ME YOURE AGAINST US"..?...UP YOURS BUDDY! ...Ron and Fez HATE CENSORSHIP!!....right , no ? if Dave had not gone this route he might have won everybody over ... now?...i suppose i'll be sensured and maybe even banned so i'll say good bye to everyone, you hardly even knew me , but i loved you all !

All I know is that when I see a negative thread, it's usually started by a noob like me and almost immediately most active posters (especially the vets) pile on and flame them immediately. I think the board self-polices itself pretty well already without further scrutinty. Based on all I gather from what I see on the board and hear on the air, this is my theory on the sequence of events that starts this shit:

1. Dave says whatever goofy shit he has to in order to justify mike time.

2. Dave is unable to live down the legacy of the horrible shit that comes out of his mouth, and when he feels the line between good-natured ribbing and personal attack has been crossed, his feelings get hurt.

3. Dave, feeling like the board has turned its back on him and does not show him the same love as the other on-air show staff, feels like he must hurt us like we hurt him.

4. Dave picks the title of a negative thread, maybe even occasionally reading it first, and runs to Ronny presenting the whole thing in a context of his choosing (tending to leave out the positive).

5. Ron says something on air and we spend the next few days feeling like the board as a whole is naughty, despite the fact that in most negative threads, the poster ratio of loyal-fans-to-assholes is about 12-1.

That's just my theory.

Has anyone thought maybe Dave is a flaming idiot who deserves critisism. He ^*&#ed Jelly and got a hummer froma a GD dog!! Jesus Herman Christ people he should be locked up if anything

Could it be that the main point of the "censorship" was to protect some of the listeners who drop by and not the show cast? I mean some people can be pretty hard on people who are just friends of the show and don't really deserve a public thrashing, and really don't need any constructive criticism since they don't do radio for a living. I can see where the buddays might not want to see an instant poll on Winny Cooper after she stops by. If any or all of this has been said already, I'm sorry, but I couldn't stay awake thru 5 pages of this.
