I've never called Ron and Fez, or any radio show for that matter. I've searched forums and FAQS about this but I find nothing to help me out. My basic question is: What are the basic things you need to do in order to call Ron and Fez?

I thought you were supposed to wait until a topic you could contribute to comes up, and then call them. However, every time I call up the show, I get a busy signal. Are you supposed to call before the show even starts, or just hope to hell your call gets through? Are there any techniques you're supposed to engage in? Hitting redial gets tiresome after the 10th time.

I'd appreciate anything you guys tell me. Thanks alot.

its a little of both. if you think they are going to talk about it, call in. if they are talking about it call in anyway. ive called in a couple of times while they were talking about a subject already and got through. you're going to usually get a busy signal but BE DIALING PEOPLE...BE DIALING!

the problem you are having is that you stop after 10 times. they have the phones set up to only pick up calls from people that dial in on their 11th try. you were so close each time. eww, sorry, sorry.
That's right... just try to perfect your game on O&A before you call R&F

I've been on twice and freaked out both times. The second time was much better than the first.

When they pick up you'll hear "Hello, ron and fez, what's your name?" Then they'll ask "what have you got?"

You tell your story to the phone screener in a cliff notes style and if they think ron and fez would like to hear it they will put you on hold and you'll hear the show coming through the phone.

TURN DOWN YOUR RADIO.

You'll get on, say what you have to say, and unless you're a total fucking idiot the worst you'll get is ron making a quick dig at you and hanging up.

Ron and Fez don't "chat" with many callers. It's mostly just say what you have to say and hang up unlike OnA where they will keep you on the line.

I've been on 3 or 4 times and was real loser a once or twice and and something decent to contribute once or twice.

You wouldn't think it would be that tough, but once your're on-air, it's real hard not to choke and make a total fool of yourself.

It can be very nerve racking. But just think of it like this:

Even if you fuck up your call, you're gonna hang up and go back to your life like it never happened. And unless you call in with your screen name here, no one will even know it was you calling in.

I would rather call in with my board name because my real name is rare, but saying B Y O B kenobi is bad for radio.

I found that it is simpler to call in with something simple like an Oscar blurb with paul -O. Or tell Fez you liked his Fezatorial when he does a public apology or catty moments. The ever popular one now is to call and thank earl for winning you money or telling earl he's a crazy man for making the pick he did.

I remember that I called in and asked "Jivey" what his favorite BeeGees song was. Dave had no clue and Ron said "is it something talkin'?" and Dave said "Black Talkin'?" It was great.

I always turn my radio off because the delay is very distracting.

Helps with timing.

If you can, I don't usnderstand why anyone would have their radio turned up anyway. The phone screaners always made a point of telling you to turn your radio down.

Yes you do.

That's crazy. Why are people stupid enough to leave their radios turned up, then? Are the phone screaners not telling them to turn them down?

That doesn't explaine why people leave their radios turned up. Are the phone screaners doing their jobs right, or are people just stupid?

Everyone's heard Ron yell at some douche for having his radio up, that should be good enough for all callers to know to turn that shit down.

I have no idea how you leave it up anyways. Both times I've been on I've turned it down just because I can hear the show like 10 seconds earlier in my ear and I feel like my brain is going to explode if I don't turn my radio off.

I get on the show about 3 times a week. Once I made it through 3 times in a show. You just have to call with something thats brief and funny. Make it topical and try to anticipate what their getting into. If you hear them not taking calls and you have something good that they just mentioned call. If they are on with a guest or have a good flow going don't bother calling. The hardest time to get on is when a comedy pyramid is in full swing.

When I've gotten on, I've usually gotten through on my first shot. If I get a busy signal twice, I give up. Also, be ready! The last time I got through, they went to me so fast, I screwed up what I meant to say.

i used to do radio and took calls on my show. So i never thought twice about calling in, and it seemed like i was never gonna get thru, but when i did and realized i was going on air... i nearly shit myself, why i don't know. I have been on 3-4 times, i just recently started using my screen name and that does help (thanx for tip Jon). This last time i was so excited that Rummy was quiting i was gigglin like a little girl.

Oh yah. for some reason they seem to go thru spells of trouble makers calling in and i never fail to get accused of being Radio Shark (love the Shark. love him.), or some other a-hole, too which Dave hangs up on me. In the first couple months of the XM show it was easy as heck to get on the air, now you have to compete with the hayseeds when they get riled up and start callin in.

oh and just be yourself. unless you have awful timing, then be someone else.

I'm fairly new to the show (been listening since January), but I've been on several times. It usually takes an average of 5-10 calls to get through, but I've gotten through on the first call several times. They usually put you on within 2 minutes, so be ready. I've only really had to wait one time and that was for about 20 minutes when Jay Mohr called right after me.

I usually just say my peace. No, "love the shows" or "how are you guys doing". They get that all the time and you can look like a dummy if you don't hear them and sit around waiting for a response.

I would also stress do NOT hang up until they hang up on you. You never no when Ronnie will send you to the Big Ass Prize closet. I got some cowbell when I corrected Dave on the number of Episodes of Get a Life. Ron even hit him with it!
