ESD has come up w/ a clever vehicle for unifying and acknowledging the listeners who are dispersed on all the different message boards. It also cleverly parodies the utterly worthless fascination some folks have w/ celebrity, & I dig the song it is a very funny lil mindworm of a tune, well edited & well presented. I played the Governor/Innkeeper in our High School Production and My folks got me a copy of that print as a gift. I've had it ever since (1980). My acting chops were good, but I wasn't a strong singer in this style. We had a great voice coach from Hofstra who actually got me through my one solo "Knight Of The Woeful Countenance." Without him the song would have been woeful.

Knight of the Woeful Countenance

INNKEEPER
Hail, Knight of the Woeful Countenance,
Knight of the Woeful Countenance!
Wherever you go
People will know
Of the glorious deeds
Of the Knight of the Woeful Countenance!

Farewell and good cheer
Oh my brave cavalier
Ride onward to glorious strife.
I swear when you're gone
I'll remember you well
For all of the rest of my life.

Hail, Knight of the Woeful Countenance,
Knight of the Woeful Countenance
Fare to the foe,
They will quail at the sight
Of the Knight of the Woeful Countenance!
Oh valorous Knight,
Go and fight for the right,
And battle all villains that be,
But oh, when you do,
What will happen to you
Thank God I won't be there to see!

ALDONZA, SANCHO, INNKEEPER
Hail, Knight of the Woeful Countenance,
Knight of the Woeful Countenance!
Wherever you go
People will know
Of the glorious deeds
Of the Knight of the Woeful Countenance!
