Two Massachusetts primary schools this week joined a growing list of US schools that have banned the age-old game of tag for fear that children may get hurt and their parents will sue.

"If the hands come out to touch, then the supervisors ask them to stop," McCarthy principal Joan Vodoklys was quoted as saying in the Boston Herald on Friday. "What we require is that children do not touch each other."

Story

Yeah, touching kids is a teacher's job.

Bastards!!!

Just like I said in the last thread, blame awful parents who sue anything that moves for this crap. The schools are trying to not lose more money...can you really blame them?

If I sit here and think back, I can come up with probably 100 times where something happened to me that I coulda sued someone for. It's fuckin insane. I've gotten hurt playing tag, sports at lunch, skating on peoples steps.

It's just so insane to me to see how things have changed. I'd come inside with something hurt and my mom would just say I'm a kid and was doing something dumb and got hurt. That's life.

no tag = lotsa fags

in my grammar school we were 98% guidos and guidesses. we played tag in the courtyard during luchtime. most of the boys wore patent leather shoes. i got smart and switched to desert boots and could cut on a dime while they went sliding all over the place.

i was badass

The new fad in school is non team based, inclusion "sports" (read: games) like "speed stacking."

When I was sub teaching I was in the gym with 3rd graders and instead of dodgeball and tag... now they have solo cups with holes punched in the bottom and are told to do their best to stack and unstack them quickly.

http://www.speedstacks.com/

They don't want kids to have to pick teams or work together. They want everyone to be able to play at their own speed without confrontation or inclusion issues.

this is exactly why i dont to have children. my whole childhood was playing outside ALL day, coming home for dinner and going back out to play. the parents who sue are the ones that werent picked to play dodge ball when they were kids because they were weak little faggots.

We used to play this game on the playground where you have two players stand facing eachother with their feet together, then you take your pocket knives and throw then in the dirt to stick in the ground near the other person's foot and then that person has to spread their feet to the knife and after awhile they are spread so far apart that one of you falls down. That one is the looser or if you get a knife through the foot or get a toe cut off you are kind of the looser then too. Do you think they would have a problem with that playground game? Geez, its a learning game. Physics, and first aid to name a few. Ah.. how I miss the good old days.

We wont be happy in this country until we turn all the women into men, all the men into women, and all the children into little grown ups.
