I wonder where would you place Ron & Fez (also include the Ron & Ron days) amoung the greatest of radio shows?

For example the top 5 would include people like Howard, O & A, Ron & Fez, and others.

As much as I love radio, any list would have to be dominated by shows from the pre-1960's, when radio mattered as the major means of communication.

That being said the Top 5 wouldn't include probably anybody from today's era.

Wether you like him or not, he had a huge impact on radio.

There's not enough good radio besides Ron and Fez and Opie and Anthony to even make a top 5 list.

Seriously.

Ron and Fez are the single funniest thing I listen to everyday. Be it on TV, Movies, other Radio outlets and any other forms of media I'm forgetting.

Most of the radio hosts today don't have half the talent of those guys.

Having said that I'd put Ron and Fez on par with most of them. Their show is so much more diverse than most of the one trick ponys on the air today. They can do wacky bits with the best of 'em, then 20 minutes later have a very serious social discussion. Then in the next segment Ron can do a terrific interview with an independent film director and make it interesting. Right after that they'll have some punk band in giving Dave an enema and a nipple piercing! They also have a close relationship with their audience, which was unheard of in the old days. It's really one of the most original shows I've ever heard.

Ron and Fez's legacy will be the best radio show to never get their own channel. Always sandwiched between 18 hours of O and A.

Damned you E-lo!!!!!!!

Ron and Fez Legacy.

Fezitorials and Board Gossip, all run by the Ring leader. The Greatest Stand Up Comedian, that has no comedy Cd. Ron "The Saint" Bennington.

His partner in crime in the Oct 30, 1938 broadcast that scared the shit out of many of the 32 million people listening [imagine that fucking slice of market pie for a weekly radio show, hell any show, today] was John Houseman who'd be known as The Paper Chase prof.

The Limelight shows are the best. He was a master storyteller and it's always been said that he never had a prepared script.

I've read all his books. He was a great writer. Don't forget the greatest hoax ever, when he and his audience came up with a fake book (I, Libertine) and then they started going to book stores asking for it. Before long the book ended up on the Best Seller list even though it didn't exist!!! A few papers even did a review of the non-existent book. It was a great prank that showed how much we rely on lists to tell us what to buy, see and do. He actually wrote the book later on and gave the money to charity. I am fortunate to have a copy.

I've read "Excelsior..." It's a fantastic account of his life. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read about a true radio pioneer (even though he always downplayed being a radio broadcaster).
