Ok, so here's the thing, I wrote a novel close to two years ago and I've been writing other stuff, but I am finally happy with the editing process that I've done to it. It's not a long read, about 240 pages, and I was wondering if anybody if they had some spare time would like to read it and give me some feedback. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

To pique your interests, it's basically the story of three main characters and those who surround them using multiple first-person points of view. The story chronicles several months worth of these characters' experiences with drug addiction and alcoholism, mental illness, loss, etc. It is a pitch black comedy and a satire that deals with a dissafected group of college-aged youths, their disenchantment, and their trials & tribulations. (Haha sorry I wrote this two years ago and I still totally suck at describing it).

I've gotten a lot of really positive feedback from my friends who have read it, and they're not the kind of people who will lie to make you feel better, so I think a lot of you might enjoy it.

Anyways, that's my spiel. If you are interested please let me know.

Thanks buddays!

I also would like to get this thing out there for publishing, but have no clue how to go about it. Any help with that would be greatly appreciated too.

I wish I had the patience or even the brains to write a book or novel. Let us know if it gets published.

I know you can self publish it, you would have to research it on the net but I have heard many have done it and have done very good doing it themselves.

Congrats! That's quite an achievement!

If you get a chance, it might be good to do a word count of the book, to get an accurate idea of how long it really is. Page length depends on a lot of different factors, but a word count will give yourself and publishers an idea of how it stacks up to other works. I've always gone under the assumption that anything longer than 65,000 was a novel.

After you have had it read, and edited down to where you can say it's 100% done, there's a publishing company called "Publish America" which seems to pride itself in publishing first time authors. They do not charge you to publish it - they can provide you with cover art, if needed - they will get it on Amazon - they can get it into bookstores. However, they will not do an extensive edit of it, so you need to be sure it is 100% perfect yourself, and they will do next to nothing to market and promote it, so you will need to be prepared to do that yourself.

They will also give you a few copies, but if you set up a book signing somewhere yourself, you will need to go in pocket and purchase your own book at a wholesale price. Twice a year you get paid - they are pretty open about their policies, and even have a forum on their website where authors are free to be open about their experiences. A common complaint seems to come from those who are trying to get Publish America to publish a second or third book - by that time, if your previous book(s) haven't sold enough to impress them, they will pass you over in order to give someone else their first published book.

Even if you don't go with them as a publisher, their message board is good to troll to get an idea of what other first time writers are going through.

While they are not a vanity press, it would benefit any of their authors to invest in a number of copies of their own book to help skew the sales up - if the book is good, and the author is good at marketing, then they can unload it and pocket that profit right there. If someone just wants this publisher to do the work when the book is done, then (more than likely) it will be harder to get PA to get to their next book.

Congratulations again - keep us all posted!
