What do you think of Pakistani President Musharaff? Personally, while I am wary of him because he is a military dictator, he seems like a decent guy who is sincere in his promise of free elections for Pakistan. What's your opinion HK?

Pakistani President Musharaff is just as bad as the rest of them, and a Dictatorship holding a democratic election in a country the size of Pakistan, never.

Pakistani President Musharaff's intelligence community already has alot of dirt that could help us, and we've given him some dirt that has been given to the Taliban, and in-effect screwed us.

Just last week, Abdul Haq, an opposition leader sneaked into Afganistan to meet with other opposition groups to coordinate and lay the ground work for a new government. It was Pakistani intelligence that tipped off the Taliban and he was thus executed, dealing a shocking blow to any coalition government in the future. It was Mubaracks people that tipped off the bad guy.her's a link, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/20011026/aponline150628_000.htm, read the article.

Secondly, there are too many rival factions in Pakistan to allow a democratic election. With over a billion citizens, religious and tribal factions would squabble constantly, and sooner or later civil war. I can not even fathom the consequences of a fundimental or secular revolution in a country with nuclear capabilies. Imagine people as crazy as the Taliban with there own red button. So in my opinion, no we can never see free elections in Pakistan any time soon. But in some time down the road, as western influences permeate the country, and Pakistan and other countries in the region are able to fully enjoy the benifits of capatalism, as well as enjoy there own success and enjoy prosperity for all people in Pakistan, will free elections be absolutely possible.

But then again, I could be wrong.

AND THAT'S ALL I GOT TO SAY ABOUT THAT

NewYorkDragons80 - I don't know enough about him to make an informed judgement.

As a general observation, dictatorships are not necessarily a bad thing in theory. The problem is finding a truly benevolent and intelligent dictator.

Musharaff took over from a corrupt government that created the Taliban, I think he is at least better than the old government.

You must've heard something I didn't because I never heard about Pakistan having anything to do with the death of Haq.

Perhaps your source is reliable, but I never heard it.

Personally, Musharaff has been a voice of reason in a region that is bitterly torn. He's the reason we aren't putting all our eggs in the Northern Alliance's respective basket. He is advising us to continue fighting through Ramadan.

To me, it seems his agenda is along the same lines as ours.
