(and I thought everything was pointing at them leaving FM all together and heading to satellite... hrmm)  Does a timeslot move make sense considering their syndication?

I have little to say on this one.  I hope they crash and burn personally.  They complained about a timeslot  move when O&A came to DC, now they want a move to mornings?  I don't get it and I don't want to.I think in the even more high stakes timeslot of AM Drive they're fucking die.  Their lame, shitty show will be outed and they'll be left with nothing.  At this point in their careers, they should be thankful for what they had built up and should be coasting with it until retirement.

Apparently Don's having one of his regular temper-tantrums and has once again walked off the show, leaving more endless best-of's to air.He's wanted to do mornings since Infinity moved D&M to pm drive to make room for Stern.  Their ratings aren't what they used to be, but that station is such a mess it will probably help. This should help O&A since the'll get a better lead-in.If this rumor isn't true, he'll still look like a whiny bitch, but at least it got some people to talk about the show again.

I don't get people who can't even hear them to wish them to "crash and burn," considering the number of crossover fans they have always shared with R&F and even O&A. They complained about a timeslot  move when O&A came to DC, now they want a move to mornings?  Actually, they never complained when it happened about that move until they moved back - and who said they want this move either? Don has been saying since before his wife died that this was their final contract - that he was making a plan to move off the air and behind the scenes when it was up in 2008. He's been pretty consistant with it too - maybe so much so that the company decided to make their plans to farm them out. Since April the rumor has been that they were going to switch stations - in the morning - making room on WJFK for the Junkies in the afternoon - and then O&A live in DC in the AM, instead of tape delayed  during middays (where they are now). This seems more and more likely - they'll ride out their $30 million contract on WARW, and WJFK will fuck once more with the cash cow timeslot. Granted, the Junkies stand a better chance than most to have success during that timeslot, but unlike Don and Mike, there is no evidence that they would support or promote Jefe and Dubbs with The Hideout (Dubbs' one appearance on their show was downright awkward), and even though they may share an agent, The Junkies never appeared to be fans/friends of Ron and Fez. Not that R&F would ever come back, but it is nice that Don and Mike continue to talk about how WKFK screwed up with letting them go, and as recent as a couple of weeks ago made an on air plea to sign The Hideout - which may actually happen, but now without a friendly lead-in.

The Junkies never appeared to be fans/friends of Ron and Fez.I don't know if they were "friends," but I hear them mention R&F every so often and they play drops of Fez every damn day.  I don't think there were any problems between the shows, or at least nothing obvious.

The point was the majority did show class - it was a small, loud group that got the negative attention, but that they were the minority and should not represent each and every listener - with that, or with other things. I apologize that I didn't make that more clear.

Don & Mike are O&A in about 10-15 years.  These guys get richer and lazier as time goes on and their stories all end up the same.  Everyone has their time but nothing lasts forever.

D&M may be gettting paid a shit load of money - they may make a lot for the company in markets like DC, Baltimore, Sacramento and Vegas, but that they are really treated like shit by their employers (at least that's how it gets played). I can't think of a time when they have never not been in someone's shadow, and their honesty with the bitterness comes through. I do think they bring it on themselves much of the time, but if stories like the WJFK Christmas party from 2 years ago are even part true, when the bosses wife supposedly got drunk and basically called Don an ass and Fredia an idiot for being with him, then they might have reason to bitch - I'm sure airing that out on the air didn't help their cause. Anyway, I really only have time for R&F these days - I will absolutely make time for The Hideout - and I will occasionally check out Don and Mike's last hour, and only really tune out if they are into some of the prepared comedy.

Sadly, I think you're right.  You can already see it happening.  The XM portion of the show is far too often just coasting nowadays.  I cringe whenever Roland is brought in to the studio on the XM portion, because I know that  means Opie has completely given up for the day.  Oh good, time filler, we get to hear the guy with a speech problem fumble with words for a half hour.  Riveting radio.

Talk about getting lazier, the word now is they won't be back until January. Two months away from the show, and no doubt getting paid.

This is 100% management's fault, Don has been allowed to get away with these tantrums for too many years. CBS should put another show on in that time period (like O&A) and stop all paychecks until they return to work (although I'm sure their contract assures their payment, CBS has a lot of lawyers and can tie this up for years).

Not even Opie, lunatic that he is, would willingly walk away from a show for that long. Listeners move on, ratings go down...

I think the infamous Buzz Burbank--Jeremy Piven (Piivenn) interview on the replay today. Absinthe show from a couple of years ago. It's pretty damn funny (not Fez on the Absinthe drinking show funny, but it's worth a listen if you haven't heard before).
