http://mediamatters.org/items/200611280003

I don't think he's way off when it comes to what the majority of people really think should happen. I'm not talking educated, progressive, followers of politics. I'm talking people who just don't give a damn one way or the other and wouldn't mind us leaving, arming both sides, and egging them on.

Obviously, that isn't very forward thinking, but when you think about it, two guys are always trying to fight each other and you keep breaking them up every single day. Eventually you're going to just turn your head and let them beat each other to hell.

One reason: Israel. If we pull out and let them "blow each other" up, that shit spills into Israel. And there's a voting group in this country that will not allow that to happen.

Not to mention the fact that this would also spill over into Jordan and Saudi Arabia -- two of the few friends we have left in the region.

I took a class called "The physics of war and peace" in college with a professor who had military clearance and had been arrested twice as a dangerous radical while traveling in Europe.

He came in one day after a bombing or something in Israel and goes, "Today we're going talk about something I really didn't plan on, but this should work."

He drew two wavy lines down the board like a V and then drew a big star in the middle.

"This is Israel. I am catholic and side with the Israeli government. 99% of the history of MY religion is in Israel. Today we're going to talk about how to save the middle east."

Then he draws a line and makes something like an H on the board.

"Israel is positioned in a very low place. These bodies of water are elevated above the city. All we'd have to do is dig a trench right here... Israel is under a billion gallons of water, preserved forever. This trench would cost a couple hundred thousand in man labor to dig and then hopefully the residents will find a less historic and emotional place to live"

ISAAC! WHAT DO YOU THINK?

"I... uh... Sink Israel?"

NO, PRESERVE IT FOREVER

"well, I'm all for preservation, but to put it under water?"

YES! 3 religions worship that ground. Let them worship in boats over the site. If they want to blow each other up over the water, at least there will be less casulties... see you guys on thursday"

And then he walks out.

I'm asking what you think of Limbaugh's statements, and how you compare them to the other discussion/information, or if you chose to read Limbaugh but skipped the other stuff?

Can someone send me an mp3 of Randy Newman's "Political Science"? Please? I've been wanting that song for a while and now more than ever.

I just posted it because I think the conversation here is "do you think that there's a large portion of the american public who thinks this is what should happen?"

It just sounded a lot like something my mom would say. "Why do we bother? Just let them kill each other."

When I read it I seriously felt like I was sitting with my mom and her sisters.

I don't have a solution to the Iraq war. I didn't even want this to be a discussion about the war. I just think it's another take being put out there that might be a popular solution among a ton of people that really just don't care about the middle east.

I mean I think there are seriously people who are like "you know, I really don't care if they are fighting or not. I just think we should let them all blow each other up like they want to."

I just wanted to see if anyone else believed that to be true.
