Right side pain is usually the appendix, while left side pain could be the spleen or the colon.

Let us know how you make out.

Is it right along the rib? I had that and the doc told me there is a muscle and nerves there that can get irritated easily, it went away after a few weeks but still flares up sometimes

A month ago I got really sick. My whole body felt like it was shutting down.Every muscle ached, vomiting, fever all that good stuff. I went to the doctor and he gave me an antibiotic and everything got better. 2 weeks later I threw up and fever all over again for one night. Ever since then I have like discomfort right along the bottom of my rib cage. Its not a shooting pain but it feels like someone is dragging a finger nail down the inside of the muscle or like I swallowed a little razor ball.

Take aspirin and see a Dr soon.

Link for symptoms.

Good luck! I too ended up with severe, then nagging pain. Went to the dr and he told me that at the bottom of the ribcage are small bonelike peices of cartilage called false-ribs. Sounds stupid. He said the violent convulsive vomitting caused bruising and a slight seperation ofthe last "false rib". I hope this takes some stress off. When I read your post,it just sounded awfully familiar.

This has happened to me before as well. When you vomit severely you can strain muscles, pinch nerves, etc. in that area

it is impossible to say what it is off hand. DO you have a history of pain like this....is it exacerbated be moving or pressing on the painful spot? How old are you and do you have a history of heart disease in your family?

Usually pain in your rib area is related to the muscles surrounding them. Lets hope that is what it is, then some heat pads and an anti inflammatory and you should be okay.

Lower left back between ribrcage and hip is the kidney (had many many kidney infections when i was younger). If you have to piss those out I hope they are giving you Fentanyl

LeftSide Pain Update (for those who care)

I had a cat scan done Friday and got back the results today. No kidney stones and nothing seems to be wrong. The pain has disappeared as well. Maybe it was all mental or a pulled muscle or something. Well thanx for the kind words of support.
