You need to buy Motorola Phone Tools and a cable for your phone.

Don't buy it at the Verizon store, you can find it way cheaper online.

Keep in mind that to unlock ALL of the normal features, you will have to "hack" the phone, as Verizon blocks a lot of the standard features. You can find good information on www.howardforums.com

return your phone and switch to t-mobile. Get better plans and better phones. Motorola phones suck so bad. IMO

To get photos off my motorola phone, I use the Motorola PST/Phone Programmer to connect to my phone and the P2kCommander. The first is available online, but you have to search long and hard. I forget what the name of the zip it's stored in is. The second is free and can be obtained from Howard Forums.
I didn't have to preform and modifications on my phone and I can access all the files on my phone (maybe not some hidden files though). I'm able to do things like download and upload pics, change the picture that appears on the outside LCD when the floptop is open, and change the opening animation. Haven't had any luck transporting MP3s... might need the Phone Tools for that.
BTW, Motorola Phone Tools is easy to find on P2P networks, but it uses a lot of memory to run, and you'll have to change some sensative settings on your phone to utilize certain features (can't upload ringtones using it because your service provider is Verizon without hacking the phone).
