This Saturday, mid-morning, me, my boys, and Mrs. Tub will be launching from Weehawken. We are going to do an afternoon in NYC. Tourist Style. We will disembark the ferry, and head to Rock Ctr.(and Pokémon Center) From there it is still up in the air.

If anybody wants to join us with their kids, or act as a tour guide, please let me know. We can meet at the ferry, at the docks, or at the Rock. We are also looking for a kid friendly, non anal rape spot for dinner. If you don't want to hook up with us, we would appreciate all recommendations.

Please send all hook up info via PM.( I will need cell #'s)

Recommendations in this thread.

Thanks. Hope to see some of you.

Tub

We made that same trip with the kids last Thursday and went to see the Christmas Spectacular. Once you get off the ferry, get on the 49th Street shuttle bus. It will drop you off on 49th and 6th Ave (one block from Radio City.)

As for avoiding getting anally raped for lunch: once you get off on 6th walk away from the direction of 5th and head west towards Time Square. We walked down 49th street and there were a couple reasonable restaurants on that one block including a pub and an Italian place. We walked to 7th and went to TGIF because we figured it'd be the safest bet to find something my kids would eat. There was an Applebees right across the street too.

As for how "reasonable" it actually was: My wife hates going into the city and so we rarely go. When we do, the little things always shock her - like the TGIF menu prices. I paid $16.00 for a cheeseburger that would have cost me $8.00 at the TGIF down the road from me.

Please explain

Now to give you some place to bring the kids, go to times square the kids will prob love to see all the lights and everything that goes on, on broadway. While in times square bring the kids to the toys -r-us. Even if your not going to buy them anything its pretty cool place to walk around. They have things to do, rides, candy store and its huge. I used to go there with my ex to see some of the toys she designed (she was a toy designer).

As for places to eat. depending on how much of the city you are going to see. You could always go down to little italy, some affordable place down there. Times square has some of those gimmick places that arent too expensive. or try this website. http://www.menupages.com/ you can search by area, prices and read reviews they even show you sample full menus. I love this little guide when I'm looking for something new in the city.

Museum of Natural History is always a great stop plus the planetarium is right there too. http://www.amnh.org/

We recently took our kids to the Guggenheim (sp?) they put up with looking at paintings because of the cool spiral shape of the building. After we took a huge walk down 5th to FAO Schwartz. This time of year the door men are dressed like toy soldiers. There was a line to get in but it moved quickly.
