Did anyone else listen to this on XM 200 today? It was the audio portion of the documentary BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES. I only got to hear parts of it, but it was really good. They kept talking about the special XM edition of the DVD, but when I clicked the Amazon.com link, it said it wasn't available yet. I hope it will be, soon.

I'm also looking forward to hearing the music of Edith Funker!

They had a screening at my school. My major was Recording Industry Production. and this movie made me sure that I wanted to change it.

Clip

It was cool to see My Morning Jacket was in the documentary. Did the rest come off cool in the documentary? I remember having this discussion in a class, and I left feeling like a douche because I agreed with everyone and said music sucks now, even though I find so much neat shit on the internet. I think i'm more interested in music overall and definately current music. There is something a good basic rhythem or beat that will never die. Its really cool that a lot of music sites, like amazon's top 100, go really deep and its becoming the norm. Finding a new song or band for the rotation is a fun habit, and how many people that are truly music fans are being told what to listen to. I remember futzing around 2 years ago and listeing to one of the BBC channels and hearing Franz Ferdinand "The Dark of the Matinee". There's nothing like hearing that really cool sound for the first time. I think its one of the best times from the perspective of a music fan.

Edith Funker promises to be quite a band and I plan to get the B4MD DVD when they get the order thing straightened out. I had the chance to talk to Les Paul a few months ago and had I known all this was going on I would have asked him about it.

Sort of odd that they chose Bob Edwards to do the interviews but whatever. I don't share OnA's loathing of him. What does appeal to me is the underlying opposition to corporate music in B4MD. Good stuff. Death to corporate pablum!
