I brought my boyfriend dinner tonight at his job and sat with him on his break just to bullshit. He seemed kind've in awe that i went out of my way to cook him something rather than just go out and buy it.

I've never really gone out of my way to prepare something for a person when it's not a specific occassion so i did feel flattered and a mild sense of accomplishment but he seemed really impressed by my actions.

I was just wondering why that is with men or is there some deeper meaning that im not catching on to?

there is nothing like a home cooked meal made with the hands of someone that loves you.

p.s. good for you, nice job.

It was a genuinely nice, unexpected thing that you did. The expression "a way to a man's heart is through his stomach" is quite appropriate.

Men aren't that complicated for the most part. It all boils down to sex and food. Treat us right and provide us with them and we'll follow you around like puppies.

And you said it yourself;

A) You went out of your way to do this incredibly nice thing for him.

B) Youve never done it before.

Youre special and he knows it. Live with it.

You've heard the old adage I'm sure, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Or something like that. I hope I didn't Menino it. The point is very poetic and it doesn't hurt to be his desire as well. So it looks like you're doing well with the chap, now it's time for him to wow you! Have fun, don't take it too serious until it is, and nice to see those aholes didn't get to you.

Very nice. It shows the effort and that you care about him enough to do that. It was nice to bring the meal, but that you made it yourself made it special. Just feels good to know that someone likes you enough to do that. Was dessert part of the meal?

Now, you add a BJ to that and you have a perfect gift there.

He feels special becuase you used your valuable time to do something nice for him out of the blue. It's not a woman thing, it's a friend/companion/lover thing.

Having someone appreciate you and do nice things for you in spite of the fact that they "know who you really are" can be a good feeling.

He mentioned to you to get something to eat, and you went through the trouble of cooking something for him. Lets see if I can come up with a situation a female would understand.

Lets say the two of you live together, and you mention to him that you're real busy at work, and tired. Then when you come home you find the clothes done, the pets fed and the dishes cleaned. None of which he usually does.

Thats what it sounds like to me.

I think most guys are like that b/c they lke the fact that you did something just for them. You werent asked to do it and for you to do this its a way you show him you care without saying.

I'm the firm believer that actions speak louder then words. Doing shows more and has more meaning then just saying I love you or whatever. Showing it or doing something like that shows it more.

My ex used to always want me to say I love you all the time and I would say when you say it all the time it becomes a word and thats it. Id rather show you then always tell you.

Now women rather get a diamond or a gift for proof of love IMO. Men just want a meal, sex and quite.
