I want to convert some old audio cassettes to CD's. This is not as easy a task as i would have thought.

These arent regular tapes that you just replace by buying CDs, but one of a kind relaxation tapes, and one in particular...a concert recorded off the radio back in 1976 that doesnt exist anywhere else. (Billy Joel live at the Bottom Line 1976). Like an ass i taped over 10 minutes of it but i want to preserve the rest.

I surfed the net and all i could find out is that ...if i do it myself i need to get hold of a GOOD cassette player, a GOOD sound card and proper software on my PC. I have none of those.

This guy spells out the steps on his website

http://www.nsftools.com/misc/TapeToCD.htm

Another option is to mail the tapes away and pay these guys $13 dollars a tape/CD.

http://www.cassettes2cds.com/cassettes.html

Thats alot of money for me to pay just to transfer some.

Anyone else done this?

Thanks.
