Cut backs???</p><p>About seven years ago I was a laborer for my old company (before climbing the perverbial ladder) and they gave out bonuses for the first time ever....for full time employees. Because they 'laid' me off for 6 days at Christmas I didn't qualify as a full timer. When I found out I didn't get my bonus I took a sledge hammer to my work truck.</p><p>I got a bonus next year and within the next five was in a managerial position above people who had been there for 20 - 30 years......Coincidence?</p>

<p>The company I work for was bought by a major corporation last January.&nbsp; We always got great bonuses, a raise, and a huge Christmas party.&nbsp; This year they said no raises, no bonuses, and just had some food catered in to the office as a &quot;party.&quot;&nbsp; Most of us boycotted it.&nbsp; </p><p>The corporation said there's no money for us because the company &quot;lost&quot; 6 million dollars this past year.&nbsp; Actually, they turned a 39 million dollar profit, but since they made 45 mil last year, in their minds they lost money. &nbsp;</p><p>I'll be job hunting come the new year. &nbsp;</p>

one year I got $500.&nbsp; past few years i have worked for state or county schools so i get no bonus.&nbsp; i do get nice time off though.&nbsp; i think i prefer the time-off to the $.&nbsp; I still can't believe the morgan stanley thread and the $60 million bonus!&nbsp;

I truly hope that the new year brings you a much better position! </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>As a crossing guard at an elementary school, I usually get cookies, candy, homemade christmas ornaments, and the occasional gift card to starbucks or dunkin' donuts. Pretty cool. Except that this year I was FIRED a week before xmas break. Political bullshit! Sucks.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Oh, and my husband is in that small-company-bought-by-big-company situation. They never got bonuses per se, but they would get a nice little party (in a bar, not an office), and were allowed to leave early, and had the whole week off between xmas and new years. Not any more. Plus, we just found out that he does get a $1000 bonus, but if he gets fired or quits, he has to pay it back. It is considered more of an advance than a bonus. <p>sorry for the lapse between posts but yesterday was filled with massive alcohol consumption, about a quarter oz of weed filling my lungs, and unfruitful excursion to get my hands on acid or shrooms or some kind of hallucinogen. thanks everyone for your support it really mens alot to know im not alone in this.</p><p>and as far as who i work, or some kind uncaring financial institution, i shouldve prefaced it by saying i work my moms company and she is the one who is laying me and one more person off. i mean i understand it, our job was to get the website,&nbsp;mailing address, and principals name of every school in the nation, and a year and a half later we're just about to finish it off. so i get it i really do, but the timing is what sucks.</p><p>since i got kicked out of stony brook all i wanted to do was become a history teacher, thats it. ive been goign to school and ive made stony brook a distant memory, ive impressed almost every professor ive had, and ive been on the deans list since ive changed schools. but now&nbsp;i cant go to school because i need a fulltime job just to pay for my car. so my biggest worry is that im gonna end up finding a nice paying job in civil service somewhere, and eventually im gonna wake up realize i hate my job and life and wrap a noose around my neck.</p>
