How did you learn that Santa was only your parents?

I woke up in the middle of the night.... I came down the stairs to see my mom and dad putting presents under the tree... They said that they had gifts that were too big to go in Santa's Sleigh...

The inevitable...

The Begining of the end of my childhood...

Oh Well...

----waltermitty

Your parents were obviously messing with you. Santa is real.

Handwriting. My mother always had a little curly-q thingy at the beginning of every "M" she wrote. Oddly enough, so did this supposed Mister Santa Claus.........

My Parents did the note thing too.... Looking back, they went to great lengths to preserve the Santa thing... I am 25, engaged and sure to have kids in the future...and I just have a hard time believing that I would go that far to fulfill the image to my children...

Maybe it changes when you have kids?

Maybe I'm a scrooge....

I have kids now, I still only grudgingly go along with the Santa bit to appease their mother. Personally, I think the kids care alot more about the presents than who's giving it to them.

My wife and I were just talking about this...

I can't remember, I think some older kids ruined it for me.

My wife said she started to realize santa had the same writing as her mom and that he used the same wrapping paper.

My jewish neighbor ruined it for me.

My 12 year old son came to me when he was 5, and told me that he didn't believe. When I questioned him on it, he told me that an old dude who lives in the North Pole with flying deer wasn't working for him. DAMN LOGICAL THINKERS!

I've learned that E-Lo, Bob Eatman, and Joel Hollander combined to become Santa, and he dropped off our presents early on December 20th.

Because every year after coming down my chimney he'd whisper in my ear "If you tell anyone I'll kill Mommy."

i found out but it wasnt my parents per se

my rents used to have a next door neighbor dress up as santa and come to our house and bring us the presents

well one year i was about 9 or 10 and santa came strolling in and i noticed he had the same bad teeth and gold caps as my next door neighbor did and i started calling bullshit and pulled off the beard

needless to say i ruined the gimmick and the secret for my younger brother and we never had a santa come to our house again after that

I also am a "found the presents" kid. But I went along with it for a few more years because honestly, the dedication my parents put into it was admirable. That and I'm the youngest, so I felt it'd be nice to go along with it for a few more years.

my father triped up the porch of house and landed on my trainset, smashing some tracks. the note that Santa left, explaining why my present was smashed to hell looked a bit too much like my mother's handwriting.

Santa Clause came to me house on the 26th and told me himself. It was the only honorable thing to do.

I think it was explained to me that Santa isn't a person, rather a feeling. An alter-ego, like Bruce Wayne and Batman. I like that explanation, and it's good enough for me.

You've been heartbroken all these years, for no reason. Leslie was a LIAR!!! I still can't figure out why so many people think Santa isn't real.

They had a poloroid of santa in the house on christmas eve while my sister and i slept. They showed it to us, like "you won't believe it that we caught him in the act". As i studied the picture i caught my dad, dammit you forgot to take your sapphire ring off. walking away from my parents, "Jen, there is no Santa." She has never forgiven me.

My best friend's parents didn't believe in lying to their kid. He dropped the bomb on me when I was 6 or 7. If I ever have kids I'll keep the illusion going as long as they want to, but the second they have the mental capacity to question Santa, I'll them the truth.
