I live in Connecticut, and while I love the success of R&F, I hope the 6-9 show will simulcast. Free FM breaks up around Fairfield, CT.

Why couldn't they play it on one of the xm comedy channels, since it's already cleaned up for terrestrial radio, that way they people who might have XL channels blocked can hear R&F, maybe bring in some more listeners.

I've been listening to FreeFM recordings from last week. I haven't heard them mention XM at all and it definitely feels like a local show. I don't think there will ever be a simulcast.

I like that since the show is just FreeFM NY the show has that NY flavor to it. They can do an NY style show without having to dumb it down for the southerners.

As far as "dumbing it down" I think that is WAY off base. I "get" the show and I think alot of us in the south do. Although there are a few callers here and even some up north who still cant wrap thier brains around the "chicken crossing the road" bit.

for an XM simulcast they will definitely need their own channel and they should already have one in my opinion. That being said, i wouldn;t say there will NEVER be a simulcast, I think it's more a matter of contracts & $$ then it being an impossibility because of a lack of their own XM channel.

Why should a show that caters to one area be simulcast? Most people outside of the tri-state area wouldn't get WPIX references or care about Wall Street being shut down.

I live in the DC area, but I do like the local feel of the FM show. There was a big change when they moved to DC a few years ago. The DC callers just didn't seem to get it like the New York callers did. My only problem is that I work evenings 3-11, so I tried using RedButton from Radiotime.com to record the show. It worked fine on Monday but I got nothing on Tuesday. I am trying it again tonight, but I hope to have it all worked out by the time the show is back live. Does anyone know of a better way to record the show from the internet feed? For some reason, I can't hear it from the WFNY website.

Thankfully, in latter incarnations they "dumbed down" the show, allowing my mouth-breathing brethren to grunt along as we hurl our excrement in delirous glee.

Can I enjoy your radio show, too?

It doesn't matter where the show is broadcasted to if you have people on the phones screening out the calls that aren't going to be funny. There isn't an Affirmative Action law for radio shows, that x% of callers must be from each geographic region that the show is heard in. Being on the airwaves in NY means that a higher percentage of the callers are going to be from the "Greatest Listeners in Radio" group, giving the show more selectivity in who gets on air.

what part do you live in? I live on the northern border of fairfield, pretty much on that theoretical border of all NYC signals, and I just have to point my antenna in the right direction and I can get the show pretty clear.

I don't get to listen to the whole 6-9 show every night. But I hear at least the 1st 15 minutes before I get home and have to deal with the chick... but I never heard any XM referances on the FM side of the show. Have there been? Also is it me or is Ron seem more "UP" for the FM show... not in a bad way just a little more excited. I love both shows and think this is a great thing.

What they should do is podcast the FreeFM show. I grew up listening to Steve Dahl in Chicago, and I discovered that he podcasts his show every day. I update it regularly, and listen to at least some of it on the subway. He's on the Free FM affiliate in Chicago, so the shows are definitely available to podcast. Just edit the commercials and music, and off you go.
