I received a bottle of absinthe from one of my bosses for Xmas.  I'm assuming its the real stuff - it was shipped over from France and it came with glasses and a couple of those fancy straining things.Confession: this is an intoxicant I have no experience with.  I've Googled and Wikipediaed it and from them have a basic understanding of the rituals in the preparation but don't want to look like a rube if I can convince some sophisto dame to help me put a dent in it. So I put a call for help to the Ron & Fez nation to offer any useful tips in helping me maximize the utility of this windfall.  I did a RonFez.net search and saw the term came up in a few threads but nothing directly on point. (I downloaded but haven't listened to the Fezzie drinking show with Don & Mike yet.) I figure there are a few impressionist-painting, Rimbaud-reading degenerates out there on the board that can help a brotha out.3 questions immediately come to mind:  1. What is the high like?  (I'm assuming that it is a dumbed downed version of being drunk and taking a hit of ecstasy.)  2.  If this is the good stuff is it an insult to do the burning sugar cube trick?  3.  Once opened does  the stuff last if it is properly recorked or does it "turn" like wine? Thanks in advance for any help (or wise-ass answers).

I've never tried it, but I loved it when Fez drank it on D&M. Check the <a href="http://www.greenfairy.org/">Green Fairy</a> site to see if they sell your brand. If they do, you can learn more about it. They also have other info on absinthe.

a friend who went to amdsterdam drank the stuff and said it was much closer to acid or an extended salvia trip than being drunk, and this is the one friend i have who will do more drugs than me, a bold statement indeed, but i take his word for it.

The high is like the body buzz you get from taking mushrooms without the accompanying visuals.  I've taken it a few times, and found its too hard to drink for me to enjoy.  I would suggest using the water ritual found on the GreenFairy.org website.  Or just suck it up and take shots.

My buddy Grim Sanity tried to fucking MAKE the shit.  HOLY FUCK!  It tasted like moldy ass.  I drank like one shot and almost puked.  It was instant "one knee."  I have to admit defeat to Angel Amy and Todd EVF who were able to handle more of it than me.I have no real experience with the real stuff.  When Grim went to Europe he brought some back but he never opened the bottles so I haven't tried it yet.I'd say do the research and make sure you prepare it correctly because you're not gonna see another bottle for awhile.

I ordered a bottle from "Absinthe Original", and the bottle was broken. 120$ down the crapper.

I used ot have two diffrent type from europe one. But to be honest they both tasted like black licorice and that's a taste I cant stand.

But yeah the places i ordered from never had a problem actually got a super cool flask with the absinthe inside.

Still its just tastes yucky

If the RIAA can get millions out of people downloading Puff Daddy songs I bet the US Government will be able to lock people up for years who are importing illegal drugs that come complete with a paper trail and credit history.

jezos right in a way, its illegal to bring it into the country, but once its actually in the country its legal. just like cuban cigars. anyway who cares? and the us gov't usually looks the other way anyway. why? if u ask me theyll always look past most things coming from europe.

But now I wont, why take a chance over something. But, I dont think thye can seize records of a foreign company? They can do it in america but what right does our govt have to go to another country and tell them we want your records?

I don't think the government would spend the money to go after small purchases. If someone was importing a bunch of the stuff, they'd care.
