A Police reunion has been the concert industry's dream for two decades, as it is believed the band could play stadiums internationally should it choose to reunite.

While I would be in the front of the line for these tickets (unless, of course, they went on sale the same day as the Van Halen reunion tour), I wonder how true that statement is? While most rock acts do the arenas & 'sheds' tour, could a Police reunion really play stadiums all over?

I would go, but not sure about 100.00 a ticket. For Sweety & I that's 200.00 in tickets, 10.00 parking, 20.00 for food, 10.00 in gas/tolls, 20.00 sack of weed...

I might have to wait for the 30.00 DVD.

Damn it. Couldn't they have gotten Todd Rungren to fill in for Sting? It would have made it a lot cheaper.

Ya know, I didn't even consider the price of tickets. I don't go to large shows, ever. The most I ever paid to see a Metal band is like $20.

If tickets are fucking $100 I may tell them to go screw, even if it is a once in a life time thing. Sorry Police, but that's a lot of money. I already have all your albums. Love your music. And as someone said, Sting may 'fag' it up with something stupid from his original music.

Not that I don't like Sting's solo work, but I'm not going to hear his work, I want Police songs.

I had a chance to see Sinatra in concert in A.C. for FREE if I'd just get off a friggin blackjack table. Didnt do it. Never had the chance again. Regret it to this day.

Moral of the story; I'll pay $100 to see the Police.

I think $100 is low balling it. There are going to be playing 20,000 arenas if they go on tour again. Tha means Fleet, MSG, Wachovia, Verizon Center. If you want a decent seat on the floor I would have to think that you are going to be paying more then $100. To see a show like that I don't think I could sit up in the nose bleeds.

Are you joking? Sting plays arenas as a solo act. The Police in 83 were playing NFL stadiums to 50, 60, 70K people. And all those people are now old and have money.

I'd pay $100. I saw them three times live back in the day, and I also saw Sting's first solo tour, when he was with Branford Marsalis and that crew (before he got boring). I saw the Police at JFK stadium in Philly around 1983. I think Madness and Joan Jett were the opening acts. Songs like Tea In The Sahara don't really work well in a stadium, but it was a pretty good show.

The Eagles' reunion is a good model to look at - people went apeshit 10+ years ago when they did the "Hell Freezes Over Tour," which really showed everyone else that people will pay the band as much as they pay scalpers - i really think there are enough people to believe the "once in a lifetime" gimmick with The Police to shell out $100-500 a ticket and easily sell out stadiums in some of the bigger cities (I know I'll be there!)

I also think that Sting is smart enough to keep the lute at home with Trudy - if he signs on for a Police reunion, he will commit to it 100%.

I will back up the sentiment on, even if you can only see them in their geezer phase, it's still worth the experience - I saw Sinatra at Merriweather Post Pavillion in the 1990s, and it was an unbelievable experience. I love when Ozzfest counters the nuMetal with the oldsters - The Sex Pistols 1990s tour also (imo) kicked ass.

On my list of "big timers I should see while I can" are The Rolling Stones, Prince and Willie Nelson. I've been fortunate enough to see about everyone else that's still here that I'd want to - sucked it up to see Sir Paul last year, after regretting not going the year before. Grateful to see Joe Strummer before he died. I so regret never seeing The Clash (had an outside chance once upon my youth). Wish I could have seen Johnny Cash and James Brown.

Aside from the Police, I'd gladly go see a Van Halen with DLR tour - I'd consider Guns N Roses, even in its current state, but would definately see them if it was with Slash - but the top of everything in this world, I am most praying for a Talking Heads reunion of some sort.

Why would you allow a concert to be played on the field when a world series is trying to be won? I am far from a Red Sox fan but id be pissed. What if they ruin the field and you lose a player? Sting plays guitar, sings and pro wrestles, but can he play baseball too?

Police show gets a scathing review - From Stewart Copeland! (http://www.reuters.com/article/entertainmentNews/idUSN2247412520070601?feedType=RSS&rpc=22)
The singer in the Police jumps like a "petulant pansy," the drummer is making a "complete hash," and who knows what the guitarist is doing? . . .
*****
"This is unbelievably lame," Copeland wrote of Wednesday's show at the GM Place arena. "We are the mighty Police and we are totally at sea." . . .
*****
"The mighty Sting momentarily looks like a petulant pansy instead of the god of rock," Copeland reported.
"And so it goes, for song after song," he wrote, with tunes such as "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" and "Don't Stand So Close To Me" reduced to ruin.
"It usually takes about four or five shows in a tour before you get to the disaster gig. But we're The Police so we are a little ahead of schedule," he said. . .

Well, it didn't rain. The Police were set up in centerfield and I was seated in right field with great seats (it was pretty awesome to look back from my vantage point in the outfield and see Fenway Park filled to capacity as a rightfielder would). I managed to sit next to my wife after all, they never checked my ticket. While I had a good time and there were indeed some moments of excellence, overall I'd have to say it was a fairly "spotty" performance.
It was fun seeing the barely concealed contempt that Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers have for Sting throughout the show. Copeland was excellent, Summers looked like he was spending his paycheck in his head throughout the show and Sting, well Sting was Sting. Nevertheless, we had a great time and I would recommend going to see the Police for the experience.
This is concert week for me, the wife and I will be seeing the Squeeze/Cheap Trick show (http://www.livenation.com/event/getEvent/eventId/260908)on Wednesday evening and to tell the truth, I was looking forward to that one more due to the fact that I scored VIP tickets (http://www.livenation.com/vip/getVIP/venueId/496)for it.
I feel like I'm time travelling back to the '80s this week.

More concealed contempt - Eagles reunited or Police reunited?

Police, definitely. In the Eagles, they all hated each other. The Police, 3 members - 2 united in their contempt against one.

I know MojoPin will kill me for this but I saw Cheap Trick last night and it was a much better show than the Police. These guys rocked and were having the time of their life doing it. They actually were enjoying themselves playing for the Boston crowd as opposed to the Police who looked like they were just cashing a paycheck.
Oh, and Squeeze (the headliner), were awesome.

Well I got back from the Police concert at Giants Stadium. And the boys did not disappoint.
Sorry James, but I could not see any form of contempt, veiled or otherwise.
They played a great show, full of energy, sucking the crowd in with all their classics and some others that shocked me (I never though I would hear Bed's To Big Without You or Regatta DeBlanc ever in concert).
Lighting was awsome, they sounded like they never stopped touring.
I was delighted when it was all said and done. I waited 21 years for this and it was worth it. Every moment of it. I danced and sang and jumped and clapped. It had been years since I have been to a Stadium Concert.
They only played for about 1:45 but they had limited selections so it was understandable.
Hell STING had more Solo albums then the Police did as a group.
Here are the songs they played:
Next to you
So Lonely (a shocker for me to hear that selection live)
Roxanne
Can't Stand Losing you
Truth Hits Everybody (also a shocker!)
Message in a Bottle
Walking on the Moon
Regatta DeBlanc
Voices in My Head
When the world is running down...you make the best of what's still around
Don't Stand So close to me
De Do do do, De da da da
Every Little Thing she do is magic
Invisible Sun (another shocker and GREAT song done live)
Bed's To big without you
Synchronicity II
Wrapped Around your Finger
Walking in your footsteps (another shocker)
Every Breath you take (that was obvious along with Roxanne)
They opened with Message in a Bottle which was great to get everyone pumped up immediately. And we all just enjoyed the ride from there on out.
This is the last stop before they hit europe and then they come back to the US.
Hitting MSG again Oct. 31st and then Atlantic City on Nov. 3rd or 4th (one of those days)
I will be at one of those shows. You can bet on it.
