growing up sucks... you realize how full of shit everyone and everything is. people and places have a certain magic to them when you're a kid, but when you revisit them as an adult, whatever you saw before is gone. who, what or where have you revisited as an adult, only to be disappointed?

mine is shitty but i just thought of it, hence the topic... rock clubs and concert halls. i'm only 22, but when i was growing up, going to a concert was the best. hammerstein ballroom, irving plaza, roseland, the list goes on... all clubs in NYC. they used to seem so big. the nassau coliseum and MSG were huge! the last time i was at any of those places, i was let down big time.

Yeah, that was pretty shitty man.

Mine is sex with a hooker. You'd think that because it's their profession they'd actually be pretty good right?

Well all they want is their money, they won't kiss, won't look in your eyes and ask you to double up on the condoms!

If you want head and then sex you got to pay huge, if you want anal you might as well meet them at a car dealership beforehand.... Sadly enough, they won't even take a shot in the face or the real kicker; they won't pee on you.

I think that's my biggest let-down

When I was a kid, I loved Roger Moore Bond movies. But trying to watch the old ones today is just painful.

Actually Chris, you bring up a good point.

Threes Company used to be so good but to look at it now the acting is horrible and it's lost some of it's appeal

Watching these shows now makes me feel like such an ass for my zeal as a child to need to see them:

Several years ago my buddy and I were amazed to learn that Rick Danko from The Band was going to play a little shit hole bar in our area. It didn't seem possible. This was a guy we idolized as a musician and songwriter, and was part of an incredibly important and influential band. To us it was almost like The Stones were playing the corner pub. We got tickets and eagerly awaited the big night.

What we got was a strung out, bloated junkie who kept missing the strings on his guitar, forgetting lyrics, and laughing as he did so. At one point he fell off the stage. Seeing how far the mighty had fallen was a sobering experience, and it not only disappointed me but really drove home the fact that everyone is human, even talented and famous people. I think that's when I really lost my sense of awe for celebrities.

When I watch a movie I liked back in the 80s, before I became intolerant of
predictable Hollywood crap, and finding it to be predictable Hollywood crap
or just plain BAD. Did I really think Star80 was genius when it came out?
::shudder::

I'm just topping this because I thought it was too good of a topic to be buried under such nonsense like "I don't like (insert board name here)."

Playing old video games. Shallow, yeah, fuck you, but I loved my video games as a kid. They were what I looked forward to each day in school. '2:45? Yes! Now I can go play Chrono Trigger', etc. I was playing a few of these old games last year on an emulator, and I immediately felt shitty playing these old games. Graphics weren't good, controls sucked, and they were all too short. Worst of all, I felt like there was some scrolling marquee inside my head the whole time that said YOU'RE NOT TWELVE ANYMORE AND YOU'RE NOT EVEN STILL IN YOUR LATE TEENS THOSE TIMES ARE OVER FOREVER over and over. Then I missed my childhood, loathed my advancing age, and realized I can't play these games anymore without getting hit with nostalgic guilt on top of the games' shittiness in comparison to today's stuff.

I went to Disney when I was around seven in the late seventies. I remember being amazed by the mechanical birds inthe Tiki Room- it was cutting edge at the time- never seen anything like it. Went back in the late 90's (No homo- we were staying in the area- one of the chicks we were traveling with really wanted to go) -oof what a let down. My wife still brings it up.

I just got back from Canada where I went for a snowboard trip at Whistler mountain that I've been planning for months.

I ruptured my achillies tendon on New Years dancing at a bar.

Didn't get to snowboard one day, had to come home early, waiting to see if I need surgery.

Please, put a bullet in me.

(EDIT: Maybe this isn't the right forum, but it's a pretty big let down)

PHYSICAL CHALLENGE! i'm 22, not sure if you all even know wtf i'm talking about.

anyway, consider this topped. for now.
