In the early 90's I had a roommate that used to listen to the Wallets. Anybody heard of them? I believe they were out of the Minneapolis area.

GTR - great mid 80's band. Steve Hackett and Steve Howe on guitar. One self-titled album and they were gone - and I don't think there is a bad track on it. Boy, I wish they had done more...

Pain - an enormous punk band out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. One of their songs was a hit in Australia, they'd get referenced on News Radio and had a few of their songs played on Cartoon Network (which is how I discovered them). But that was the most fame they got.

Oddly enough, they still have a fairly passionate fanbase even though they're pretty much on "permanent hiatus." The lead singer is now a HS religion teacher and the bassist is a political science professor.

Foetus. Love ANYTHING from Foetus. Been making off the wall music for 25 years now. If any of you dig any of the music from "The Venture Brothers", he writes all of it so check his shit out.

Great question.

Chris Bell, I am the Cosmos. A great album from the mid 70's. Bell was half of the songwriting duo that made up Big Star.

Tuscadero "Hollywood Handsome". Tuscadero was a mediocre 90's college band that produced one song that I could ever listen to. This is it.

David Garza, This Euphoria. A rocker from one of Austin, Texas' favorite sons. The "single" Kinder" was actually featured in a Best Buy commercial, but promoting a Jew from Texas ain't easy.

Gear Daddies, "Boys will be Boys". A Minneapolis band that you might know from hockey games, as they did the "Zamboni Song". I think they appeared on Letterman once, but they never really went anywhere. Their lead singer now performs in the Twin Cities with his band "Martin Zellar & the Hardaways".

A man after my own heart! My favorite Fripp albumn is also my favorite Eno albumn; "No Pussyfooting".

=

Yeah that's taking minimalism to Cage-like extremes. Amazing that labels would even release stuff like that.

Since it's Bowie's 60th here he is with Fripp and Eno, recording 'Hereos' in Berlin:

'

Fripp was my guitar teacher from 1986 - 2000 while he was giving seminars in West Virginia and elsewhere. Called Guitar Craft, you lived with maybe 30 others and Fripp on 400+ acres in the middle of nowhere in WV and played guitar eight hours a day for 3-14 days.
