I took in a lost cat until we found its owner. No big deal we found them in less than 24 hrs, and I happen to have a real soft spot for cats.

My daughter's cat was running accross the wooden floor upstairs and slid under the railing. He fell about 15 ft and landed on the bottom step so hard that shit actually flew out of his ass. There was shit splattered on the wall and everytime he sneezed, shit flew out of his ass again. I took him to an emergency vet and paid a couple hundred bucks for them to fix my daughter's broken cat. I found a stray kitty this summer that was dying, I took it to the vet and got it medication and such. I thought it was just until I could find a home for her. 8 months later I have a patchy grey/ brown cat that cuddles me every day and swats at my fish every night.

I used to volunteer at the local ASPCA. When I'd see a family pull up, I'd get the most pathetic dog in the kennel (the ones least likely to get adopted) and take it outside, so it would be the first dog the kids saw. They'd usually fall in love right away, and even though the parents would try to get the kids to look at other dogs, they'd usually end up adopting that one.

My favorite, was a dog that had been severely abused by a previous asshole owner. It had strips of hair missing on its snout, where they used to wrap bailing wire, to keep it from barking. It was a very sweet pooch, and he was adopted by a family with two little kids.

The stories here made me remember that my friend's dog Wynter that recently died was actually an abused dog we saved.

She was the very LAST dog of her litter to be adopted. The owners were co-workers of a friend. We drove down to Clifton or somewhere near there. The fuckin' lady was half in the bag on box wine(it was sitting there and she was drinking it as we walked in). She took us back to the room they had the last dog in.

When she opened the door, it was the most pathetic site I've seen in a long time. The fucking room was fucking almost completey pitch black. As my eyes slightly adjusted to the dim light in there, I saw a weight bench in the corner, a room covered in newspaper with dozens of shits all over the place, and nothing more. Out of the shadows walked a very small dog with a broken tail. She claimed it's tail was the result of some sort of accident with getting closed in a door, but with the way they kept the dogs I have little reason to believe her.

Took the dog home. It had a few different kinds of worms and needed some food. But that dog was the best dog I've ever hung out around, period.

I get to help and feel some of the pride, but these 8 babies lived with her and her two grown cats for months while she weened them off droppers and bottles, and wormed them, and gave them medicine for colds... they drove her nuts but she saved them all and I found homes for them all.

I have NO idea how she put up with them all.... but some people are just blessed with patience. Hell.. she raised me, didn't she? lol

I never did one good deed for any animal. I volunteered at an animal shelter for awhile, did my thing, but I don't consider anything I did for them a good deed. I love my pet, I love my girlfriend's cats, I treat them well, but that's no accomplishment worth lauding. Just a human thing.

My friend Judy, on the other hand, did quite a few good deeds for animals. One time she found a cat that was stuck in some underground pipe (no idea how she found it in the first place) and somehow managed to get the thing out of there with the help of the fire department. Yeah, I wish I had more to say. I don't.

I once had a truck load of rednecks thwart an effort of mine to help an animal. I was driving through the park, and there was a 5 foot black snake in my path. I pulled over and got out to move it out of the street. I got about 4 feet away from it, and the pick up full of rednecks (coming from the other direction) swerved INTO my lane, and intentionally ran the snake over. I hope they get rats in their house. With snakes around, the rats would rule the world!

I have personally saved three stray dogs and returned them to their rightful owner, all of them way away from where they lived, and one of them, a tiny yorkshire terrier litterally freezing in a mass of snow (like six years ago when snow meant something around here) who would have died otherwise. I loved that little guy and the two others who followed him, even though they were just lost and not in grave danger of death.

I've rescued several turtles from being run over. Everytime I spot one in the
road I'll stop and move it to safety. I was too late one time--I spotted one and
turned around and drove back to get it but it was smashed when I got there. So
sad.

I also rescued my cat from death row. I volunteered at the local animal shelter
and he was one of the many up for adoption. I couldn't really take a cat at the
time, but I put a note on his chart to call me before they "PTS" (put to sleep) if
it came to that. I got the call that he had been moved to the death cages in the
back and unless I took him it was curtains. He's been a happy member of our
family since I scooped him up that day!

My bull terrier had a tumor on his spine removed at the cost of about 10 grand. So we didn't get furniture for awhile but he is the king & worth it. Took in a horse I really dont need because the horse I do love likes him. I have saved countless pits from a life of fights & abuse. Some put down because of their battle wounds and some now have wonderful homes and are great pets. Last week had a call of a bloody dog in the ghetto and found a about year old brindle pit with his front legs chewed to bits. Took him to the shelter myself, cleaned him up and he was a doll clearly not a fighter. He is available for adoption in AC if anyone wants a really sweet boy. I really get more satisfaction helping animals at work more so then the two legged animals....

I had natural gas brought in when I bought my house seven years ago. This meant I could get rid of the giant white trash propane tanks that were against my house. Awww, thats nice!

Of course Im proud of my dummpster kitties, but recently something else happened with a new kitty.

I was going to post about this the day before yesterday but havent had the chance. A couple of months ago it was mentioned to me in passing that there was a 7 month old himalayan that someone couldnt keep. Supposedly a woman had this cat, then had a baby who turned out to be highly allergic. I had heard nothing after that and assumed it was taken by someone. However two days ago there was a knock on the door; it was the woman who initially told me about the cat; with the cat. She came in; shoved the cat in my face and said: "here you go, hes been in a carrier in a car, for days and days now". Then the cunt left. It was pretty hot that day too. Unfuckingbelievable!!

The cat is absolutely gorgeous, but once I pulled him out of the carrier I realized not only did the story she gave me NOT add up; but this cat WAS NOT 7 months old, he was also mistreated, horrible matting in his fur, totally smelled of piss, his teeth were disguisting, totally imaciated, had an eye infection, and oh yeah, he wasnt fixed. Of course that means he was probably going to spray everywhere. I am not only pissed at the bitch who dropped him off because she should have seen these things and just told me, (Even if I knew about all these things, I still would have taken him, after all, if I wasnt going to help him who would?) But I am also pissed at the woman who originally owned him (all of this neglect did not happen over night), but there was supposedly another person who had him before he was brought to me, supposedly a "cat lover". What the fuck is wrong with people?

We took the cat into the bathroom and gave him a bath, a more gentle cat I have NEVER seen. Then we brushed him for an hour, then shaved his tummy because the matting was too bad. Then we bathed him again, and brushed him again. We noticed flea dirt but no fleas.
I called the vet and then dropped him off yesterday. They called me and told me he may have a respitory disease that they need to test for too. I am going to pick him up in a bit, along with a $360 tab, I was saving for vacation, but now hell be happy and healthy (hopefully) and he wont be neglected. Also, She said she didnt know what his name was, but on the dishes she brought that I threw out, "PABLO" was written on them....He doesnt really look like a pablo, but we'll see. Im going to post pictures too....such a sweety, so sad someone neglected him this way.

My wife broke her leg just before summer. A few month's earlier, Fuzzoo lost her leg to cancer. A little bump quickly grew into radiation treatments and eventually an amputation . Both Fuzzoo and Lisa were in recovery over the summer with their injured legs. Fuzzoo was instrumental in Lisa's recovery. I smile as I remember them both on the couch. Lisa was in pain and Fuzzoo was always a welcome distraction. Fuzzoo gave her strength by demonstrating her desire to press on through the cancer and amputation.

Its a year later, and Lisa's leg is nearly done healing. Sadly, Fuzzoo never did recover.

We love ya, kid, and we will always miss ya.

just this weekend my parents two miniature schnauzers were ahh.... mating and they were going at it ass to ass and got wrapped around the leg of the coffee table and it looked very uncomfortable, so being the hero that i am i gently moved them away from the table and gave them plenty of room for their nasty business.

who knew dogs screwed ass to ass! blew my freaking mind

My wife and I foster shelter dogs. It's pretty rough when you get attached to one of these little bastards and you have to give them up, but knowing that you saved a decent animal from the blue juice more than makes up for it.

I am not sure when it started but I have always felt like I had to help animals.

I did work (construction) for a family that had 2 beagles. One had a problem of running thru the electric fence after rabbits. One day driving by I saw the dog run out and the car in front of me hit it. I got out to see him dragging the dog out an toss it on the side of the road. It jumped up and ran, and I got out and went after it. I drove that dog to the emergency hospital like a Grand Prix driver. I slid through intersections using my emergency brake like a f'ing nut :) When i got there my brakes had heated up and i didn't stop all that good and hit the Vets office. But the dog was saved, minus an eye. Every year i get a gift from the dog for xmas, and a picture.

Sorry to be a hog but I have more.

I have 2 dogs myself. The mutt I have, I got from a junkyard in Indy, where i was working cutting steel. I watched these guys in a crane quickly grabbing piles of steel with the mag, spinning around dropping it. I thought "what are those idiots up too". I went over to see this dog running around and they were trying to pick up steel and smash it. I flipped out and grabbed the operator and through him out of the crane, and threatened to cut his ass with my torch. I spent the rest of the day trying to get her. Finally she got close to my truck (i had opened the door) where i had out a turkey sandwich from my lunch. I unwrapped it, showed it to her, and then thru it in the truck. She went in and started eating. I closed the door.. told those bags of shit @ that scrap yard "I quit" and me an my new dog went home. Funny thing is I thought she was black, but after 2-3 baths I found I had a brown dog.

Gators, rattle snakes, birds, cats, dogs... I love em all.

I just petted a stray kitten in the rain. It seemed to enjoy it.

I do take care of my niece's and nephews rabbit and cat. They are easy to maintain though, the cat just comes in to eat and poops outside and when I let the rabbit run around it uses the cats litterbox!

i saw a chihuahua get run over by a taxi. no blood, but there were broken ribs almost coming through the skin. i took him over to the curb and tried to soothe him as he was dying. i waved down a cop and asked what i should do, and he said to throw him in a garbage truck that was passing by, f'n prick!

i found a more sympathic cop who took the dog away, but i'm not sure what he did with him.

about a week later, i saw a 'missing dog' poster and had to call the owner to break the bad news.

As much as I hate to think this way, I bet the majority of people wouldn't have called the owner. Kudos to you, Devo.

My neighbor growing up used to jog around our block everyday, with what we thought was the ugliest most deformed dog ever. turns out it was her pet rabbit.

thanks, buddie! it took a few days of "should i or shouldn't i?" before i actually made the call. the owner mentioned having 2 kids, so i'm sure he had a rough night breaking the news to them, but he was grateful that i called to let him know.

My old man just shot an eight pointer with his bow and to put this thing out of it's misery I had to slit it's throat. I think hunting is a good thing cause it helps feed my family but I can't stand it when animals suffer. I think that was a nice thing to do.

the other morning I found a young possum trapped in my trash can. It crawled in thur a small hole and could not get back out.I dumped it into a box and brought it into the house.I thought about keeping him and teach him tricks like eating with a fork like you see on T.V.I feed him some cookies and then released him into the woods.:king:

I once saved a kitten that had fallen down a 7 foot hole in a schoolyard. Fed it, cleaned it and patched up a gash it had on its leg. Went out with the little fucker sitting on my shoulder the whole night. Then I found it a good home at a garage that was known for taking care of stray cats.
