Well, Mrs. Bandit and I are officially expecting the birth of our first child. We've reached that magical end of the first trimester that superstitious relatives and friends warned us not to really tell too many people before, so now I'm telling the world. We don't know the gender yet but we've already started contemplating names. Any Suggestions?

I worked with a woman that was Irish, married an Italian with a very obvious last name, then gave their first child a very Irish first name. Something about Caitlin Italiano (or something like that) that just doesn't sound right to me.

Either way, congrats & good luck to yo & the Mrs.!

Irish, nice...I've always been a big fan of Ronan for a boy. It's ethnic, but not to the point of being wierd or hard to pronounce & spell.

Whatever name you think of pretend you are calling the kid in for dinner. If it does'nt sound goofy then you have a winner. No boy needs to be named Sue.

So we had the second UltraSound last week, and we now have a gender.

I honestly didn't care either way. I just wanted definition, one or the other. I didn't want a Jamie Lee Curtis to deal with. So what does the UltraSound Tech say?

"It's a girl, I think."

Now I understand that boys are probably a little easier to tell. If there's something there, Blue Nursery. But confirming the absence of something is a little trickier. Perhaps you might glance over it, or the baby is moving around to much that she couldn't get a good shot at it. But don't give me, "I think." Oh well. I guess I'll just take solace that he/she looks whole and healthy.

Did you know they let both boys and girls do Irish Step Dancing. Apart from Michael "O'" Flatley, I've never seen male step dancers.
