A few months back you might remember a thread about a fundraiser for ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease) Research. Our bar event alone raised $12,000 to benefit this cause. I am very happy to provide you with an ALS update since our last benefit. ALS research has made great progress, thanks to dollars raised through many different initiatives. ALS research has narrowed the disease causing genes from hundreds to 14 specific genes. This is a great step towards battling this crippling and terminal disease.

To aid and expedite in the research, we have decided to hold another benefit in honor of our friend Paul Carr. All dollars raised will be donated to the Yale Department of Neurology; all funds will be used to conduct clinical trials for patients with ALS.

The 2nd benefit will take place on Saturday evening, February 17th at 7 p.m. to raise additional ALS research dollars.

Since we had a great turnout at the last benefit, my friends at the Black Rock Castle in Bridgeport, CT are once again donating their facility for the entire evening to benefit ALS. Once again we are lucky enough to have “Out Cold" - Maurizio Girotto and the “Missing Gallbladders" - Greg Kiley donate their time into playing for the evening. BUT we have also have been very fortunate to add one more band!

My friends “Simple Jim” wanted to aid in this very worthy cause and will be performing at the venue.

As before, there will be a charge at the door and all proceeds will go to the Yale Department of Neurology for ALS research.

Additionally, we are gathering raffle items from various sources, including professional sports teams. Please help us in making this event as fruitful as the first. Any and all donations will be graciously accepted. Please forward this to anyone who may want to join us in finding a cure for ALS. Please encourage your friends and family to participate in this initiative.

Many thanks to the many friends who have been assisting in this event.

More updates to follow in the next few weeks, stay tuned!

Black Rock Castle
2895 Fairfield Avenue - Bridgeport, CT 06605
(203) 336-3990 - (203) 367-0460

Directions to Blackrock Castle:
Traveling North from New York - Stamford -
Take 1-95 north to Exit 23 - (King's Hinghway)
Go straight to 2nd traffic light.
