She F'ed up. Her kid should be happy with the Justin Timberlake tickets. I cant feel bad for her. She did this for attention and a prize. She unfortunatly died. I dont think anyone should have been fired. They should do a benefit or pay the kids some money for the tragedy. I may sound cold but I think she made a bad decision. She could have slipped leavin the radio show too.

It is why I dont feel bad when people do dumb things to be O&A or Howie or R&F. They do it for fame, their two minutes or a prize. Shit happens !!

In a brilliant and/or posturing move by the lawyer for the Strange family, he's asked the FCC to pull the station's license.

I know Donohue did the same thing with WNEW with O&A, but this is a different can of worms.

Here's how I see it...

1) If they didn't have EMT's standing by, station's fault.

2) If they didn't do the research into the dangers of the contest, station's fault.

3) If EMTs were there but the woman shrugged them off - her fault.

4) If people at the station knew this woman wasn't feeling good and no one called to check up on her - station's fault.

Yes, the woman was an attention-seeker, as anyone who goes on the radio. Although some can point that she had a hand in her own death, people who are uninformed can't know the dangers of water intoxication. It's not like she was binge drinking or huffing or do something that's inherently dangerous - she just thought she was drinking water. If she was having stomach problems, that would be a red flag, but how could she have realized that the migraine she was suffering from was a result of the water she drank?

I can't decide which is a sadder commentary on our society - the fact that a woman would go to such ridiculous lengths (and tragically die in the process) for a stupid toy, or some of the responses in this thread.

I'm with you GVAC, there's not a shred of evidence she had any idea how much danger she was in, so the "Fuck her she knew what she was getting into" doesn't hold any . . . . . er . . . . water.
