Comedians don't tell jokes anymore

<p>In the comedy world, how did it come to pass that comedians stopped telling jokes? Back, back in the day most comedy was told in nice little containers; premise, body, punchline, repeat. Especially the a guy walks into the bar with a Black, a Mick and a Jew typa jokes. No more. Everybody just tells funny stories or just observations.</p><p> what point in standup comedy history did this start to happen? Was it the Pryor 70's or was it before?</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

i think even pryor gave a nod to woddy allen for changing the style of modern comedy. personally id say it changed around the time of lenny bruce and mort sahl in the late 50's. &nbsp;

<p>dude the story telling comedians have been around since the 50s maybe even before your talking about vaudvilee jokes wich bled into the tv and radio of the 40s then came story telling or something like that ilk</p><p>there comedians who jsut tell jokes still </p><p>or hang out wiht a 5 year old who jsut got a joke book they never stop</p><p>or eat a popcilce those are filled with them&nbsp;</p>
