I've fulfilled a life long dream of mine by recently becoming a booster for the University of Maryland football team by joining one of the organizations that does it (the Terrapin Club is cheap for recent graduates). For those unfamiliar, a "booster" is basically someone that donates money to various athletic causes at Universities. Technically its for "all" the athletic programs, but football is really where most of the money goes.

But its still pretty cool. I've always had a dream to be one of these crooked booster types that shuffles all sorts of madness towards potential recruits, like steak dinners, or strippers, or giving them keys to a car "Blue Chips" style. And getting angry at the coach and throwing fistfulls of money everywhere is always fun. I could imagine myself becoming this "Boss Hogg" type that just runs his own crooked recruiting empire.

Or I could just end up some dope that donates money every year to get better football seats. Oh well.

Here's to the fun and shady world of collegiate athletics!!!!!!!!!!

It was announced that, starting in the 2007 season, all UMD football players will be sporting Whatley Posse stickers on their helmets.
