View Full Version : What's your TV guilty pleasure?

I'm sitting here watching America Funniest Home Videos or now a days...AFV, and I'm thinking, I would never admit to people that I watch this show religously. Then I started thinking about all the other TV shows that I watch, enjoy watching, but if someone walked in on me watching these shows I would claim to have been surfing through channels. Shows like I Love New York, I honestly make plans with a friend of mine to watch this show together. I really find it hard to admit that, but it's true. I find myself stopping at other embarrassing shows like The Fresh Prince of Bell Air, Full House, Wife Swap, Rosanne, Supper Nanny, and Mets Baseball.

So I was wondering, what are your TV guilty pleasures?

I don't watch a whole lot of TV or anything, but any time one of those old 80's PI shows like Moonlighting, Magnum PI, or Rockford Files comes on as I'm flipping the dials, I have to sit and watch.

I'll cop to occasionally enjoying the 2 & 1/2 Men show. It is amusing enough but what makes it noteworthy is that the jokes are about three orders of magnitude raunchier than what they let O&A and R&F get away with on broadcast radio. And it's the same company running both.

I've also watched Barefoot Contessa once or twice. I don't know that I'm watching the same thing as the peeps on here who find her soothing. The vibe I got from her was Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, which was sort of entertaining in a cringey way. I'd bet $2 that the OCD thought repeating in her head is "Must make the pork roast perfect or hubby will leave me for his slutty secretary." But maybe I'm reading too much between the lines.

And the pork did look delicious.

I don't know if Beauty and the Geek falls into guilty, it's a sweet show. I used to be real into Dawson's Creek. Also, I know my favorite show will get made fun of on this board but come on...how can you not think Friends is hilarious?

My guilty TV pleasure is not having TV anymore. I cut it off and only watch what I rent from NETFLIX. With Netflix rentals, XM Radio, and reading, my time is well occupied. And to be honest...Reading all your guilty pleasures has convinced me I made the right decision. Other than one or two shows I don't feel as though I'm missing much. And I can those shows from Netflix. And the HBO stuff as well. TV today is just awful. Terrible.

right now my guilty pleasures are most of the reality shows on VH1 right now. I really can't get into the reality shows on network TV at all. Other than that my guilty pleasures would be watching all of the old shows from the late 70's and 80's and some from the 90's like 90210, Melrose and Dawson's creek, etc..

oh boy...this could be a long list. My Super Sweet 16, The Hills, Next, whatever the lie detector MTV show is, American Idol, Golden Girl reruns, OC, but worst would have to be reruns of Dallas. can't get enough of JR.

oh, and when my wife turns on Lifetime movies I usually get more into them then her....the ones where at least a murder or crime happens, not the love movies.
