My son, who is a twin (sister) lost his very first tooth today! I'm excited for him but also concerned because he's only 4 (5 on March 31).

He was eating a sliced orange and it fell out. He came up to me with blood in his mouth and the tooth in hand crying because he was bleeding.

I'm so excited for him! We called my wife at work to tell her... He told her he wanted the tooth fairy to give him $100.00! I can only imagine what my daughters will ask for when they lose their first tooth.

Anyway, This was a first for me so I decided to share my excitement with all of you.

So what is the going rate for a tooth these days? I remember getting a dollar in 1974, and that was without the blood. Factor in the exchange rate, and I'm guessing lil ramrod has a twenty coming his way.

That is so great! I wouldn't worry about it being to young for that to have happened. My daughter is 9 and pretty much already has her adult teeth.

$100? Holy shit! I think five was the tops I ever got.
Relax, gang. That's $100 Canadian, which is about 5 bucks American.

Yeah snacks, I'm a bit worried cause it seems like he should be 6 or 7 before losing teeth. I guess each person is different.

When I was growing up I got anywhere from 75 cents to $1.50.

He's funny though, he's still walking around with a wet cloth in his mouth.

Gvac, I did the conversion.... You were soooo Wrong. It's like $19.93

(actually it's $84.76)

You gotta keep the payoff low or you'll come home to find him with a fifth of jack and a pair of pliers.

I would get two bucks in fifty cent pieces. It would be in an envelope under me pillow. How exciting that was, going to bed knowing you'd be rich in the morning. You can get anything by a kid.

I remember one time that I had a tooth hanging by a thread, and my dad pulled it out for me. It hurt like hell so he gave me a little bit of scotch in a glass to swirl in my mouth to numb the area. I don't think you're allowed to do that anymore.

Four isn't too young at all, I used to have kids at the daycare lose them at four and five years old all the time.

You can't be serving scotch to kids at your daycare. You're gonna lose your license.

I really thought you were going to say that your son left the tooth under the pillow and some other being took it who wasn't you. I was filled with suspense and this letdown hurts real good.

Wouldn't fly Mikey, The boy brushes everyday. If my wife or I forget; He remembers.

I'd probably confuse the poor gaffer and make him think he needed to brush until he bled.

That's cool. Does the tooth fairy in Canada wear a maple leaf or something? My 7 year old still has all his baby teeth. No signs of looseness yet. I'll buy oranges tomorrow.

I haven't seen her but the rumour is that she drives a Zamboni, Wears a seal skin jacket and snowshoes. Her hobbies are building igloos for the less fortunate, curling and ice fishing on weekends.

She has a weakspot for beer and pancakes with Maple syrup.

See, I had always thought kids lost teeth around the 7/8 year mark. His has been wiggling for a few weeks, we thought he fell when he was playing hockey and loosened it and it would eventually heal up.

He wants to play hockey on a team in the worst way, Now he looks the part.

Might be hot if it's just a seal skin jacket and snow shoes. Maybe throw in a mounties hat. Kids hockey and dental insurance hand in hand?

Oh, it's not just the jacket and snowshoes. I left out that she wears an otter skin bikini (picture the irony in this one) with a beaver pelt covering her crotch.

Yeah, dental insurance and Hockey go hand in hand. I was on of the few that made it through junior hockey with a full set of originals. Hopefully he can too.

Seal, otter, beaver. I'm Starving. We haven't done the hockey thing yet. So far we've explored baseball, soccer, basketball, and karate. I think baseball and karate are the keepers. I thought this would be the year of skiing and skates but it's been a mild winter so far.

So you're letting the kids pick the sports?

That's what we're doing. Hockey is a given for my son, maybe for my youngest daughter. We've done soccer for my son, that's done thank god and my other daughter is in ballet, which again is a keeper.

As it stands now, we got guarantees on

hockey

ballet

swimming

figure skating

and a good possibility of lacrosse.

It's scary to think that at the ages of 4/4/2 they are so into these activities and they might have 2 or more each. The costs will be astounding!

We haven't even done skiing yet!

The kids pick the sports with the promise that they'll finish that season. My friend has 2 girls and everything seems more expensive for them. I guess every dance recital requires a full make over (for the girls and mom) and new outfits. Karate is about a $100 a month (discounted if you pay a year in advance). Swim lessons aren't cheap but start early and they pick it up real quick.

My youngest will be up in a couple of hours so I'm login out. Good night.
