this is a look in the future. Nascar is looking into ways to get rid of tailgating. I remember when the new Jets stadium was being pitched there was a "tailgating area" provided by Budwiser where you can buy beer and BBQed food. way to suck the fun out things.

I went to a Ravens game a few years back and was surprised to see a city ordinance prohibiting "fun". The Ravens solution was a "Tailgate Zone", fenced in area, under a bridge, near the stadium where 1000 yes only 1000 season ticket holders had won the priviledge to park thier RVs and Vans in a chain link corral for the season. We paid 20 bucks to park in a private lot only to have my buddy hassled for eating a chicken salad sandiwch and chuggung a beer, by the rent a cop on patrol. He pointed directly at ordinance enforcement and fine signs displayed everywhere. If you wanted to have fun before the game it was to be had inside to the tune of 7 bucks for a piss warm draft and 7 more for a shitty sausage on a stale bun. No wonder they call it Charm City. Sorry Bobo, no offense intended. I know if you where in charge there would be naked banjo pickin throughout the land.

I hadnt been to a Mets game in a few years and had no idea you werent allowed to tailgate inside the parking area.

They tried this a few years ago at LSU.

They didnt want any giant tailgates and you werent allowed to have any corporate sponsors.

The things is the tailgates with the sponsors were the best ones because they always did it up big time and always shared their food.

Once they got good again that plan quickly went away and now the signs are just as big as they were.

It does seem kinda lame.

Only way to show them is to stick it to them and unfortunately thats not gonna happen.

this isn't for security reasons at all, its about the nfl making money. if people can't bring their own beer and food for pre-game parties, it means they are going to have to buy everything. and because its the superbowl and in south florida, im guessing its going to be like 8 bucks a beer and 6 for a sausage. and im sure the nfl gets to license out all of the vendors in the area and gets to make a pretty penny. more evidence of how making more money wins over the fans in the most important thing to the nfl.

Although it's currently on appeal the NFL(Meadowlands) was found guilty in a civil court in New Jersey of creating an enviroment of drunkeness etc and was ordered to bay 9 mil (? exact amount) to a girl that was paralyzed by a drunk driver on the way home froma giants game. I'm too lazy to google the story.

The fear of lawsuits has really put the kibosh on tailgating. The thought process is if they can be held liable for drinking injuries then the same would hold true for any other injury, like a burn from a BBQ...

...this is not to say that Bud doesn't love the fact that you have to buy from them, but I think that are just riding along instead of creating the wave

I got season tix for the Redskins 2 years ago and the tailgate scene is alive and well in Landover MD. I drive down Sat nights and stay with my cousin and meet the rest of my aunts and uncles in the lot on sunday. Then we all proceed to our seats scattered throughout the stadium and watch the redskins lose badly. Tailgating is essential and it unites people. Fedex field even sends out emails the week of the game reminding everyone to come early and tailgate.
