Alas, our poor Sapphire has been going through a bad streak lately: no sleep, no credit from Ronnie B. for eating his veggies, shot down on air by an intern, etc. And it continues - big story in the Sunday NY Times about African Americans in NY who are more into the Rock (esp. indie variety) than the stereotypical "urban" genres. TV on the Radio, Black Rock Coalition, Afropunk all included, lots of different people in the scene quoted and mentioned - but not Black Earl.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/fashion/28Blipsters.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Oh Earl Douglas will you ever win?

Seriously, we need to think of something to cheer the poor guy up. I'll start the brainstorming with getting Earl a lapdance. From GVAC.

I have a tough time feeling bad for anyone who neglects their mental health by not seeking psychological help. Earl Douglas is causing & prolonging this bad streak by just trying to "ride it out".

And the Midnight Rider is shitting all over him. My poll for Producer of January at wackbag is a runaway victory for The Rider.

I was listening to a replay about 45 minutes ago. It was Mondays, where he edited out his board gossip error and then called out the caller...

I'm not going to pile on Earl here. As fans we rib him and critique his work; Almost too much but I think Mr. Douglas is in some real trouble. This isn't a bit, it's not a gimmick and I just can't see how a professional radio show can continue with a producer like this.

I hope he will straighten out his problems so he can pick up and have a long run with the show.

I'm offering to quit my job, leave my wife and kids and come to NY to live with Earl. I'll make sure he eats proper foods, gets plenty of rest (even if it requires warm milk before I tuck him in), I'll make sure he gets a female companion and I'll even help him pick a new wardrobe with color (for you Gvac). Not sinbad color but maybe some whites, some grey's and perhaps a blue.

I think with proper attention and someone showing him some man love (of the friend variety) he will be back booking guests and producing bits in no time.

I guess you could call Earl a blipster, but I don't think it would help.

I think the term is ignorant, and "hipster" is good enough for all races. Replacing the first letters of any term to designate the racial backgroud of its target race implies that the original word can only apply to a specific race. This "wordism" indicates a subtle politically correct and deeply ingrained racism that's more frightening than the overt kind.

On the other hand I'm shocked the article didn't call it "nipster".
