This topic was inspired by Don Stugots in a reply from the Worst Gimmick thread. Why do we watch anymore? Beyond the independents, what's left for the WWE to do that will make us think, "God, this is just not worth watching anymore,"? I'd like to think that when Vince dies the hell of "sports entertainment" will be over.

I've definately lost interest over the last 3 years. My wife still watches RAW and Smackdown with the occaisional WCW but for me there is no reason to watch. The talent is too watered down and the story lines aren't as interesting,

The biggest problem with the watered down talent is that it isn't just keeping the same people in title contention but it's keeping what would be a mid carder or a curtain jerker in title contention.

As for why I still watch at all...I like wrestling matches.

That said, I've completely given up on their version of ECW. It's a complete abortion.

I Tivo RAW, but only watch the wrestlers & feuds that interest me (i.e. any thing involving Ric Flair; maybe an Edge promo or match).

The only thing I watch in WWE with any regularity is Smackdown. There's still enough guys there that that I like (Undertaker, Booker, Benoit, Regal, Finlay, London & Kendrick, Matt Hardy, Gregory Helms) and even a couple of the new guys that seem pretty good (Kennedy, MVP).

I do watch TNA from beginning to end each week...I can't stress enough how much WWE dropped the ball with Christian...the guy is awesome as the top heel.

WSX could go either way at this point.

So back when I was a huge fan, I would probably watch RAW, Smackdown, Nitro, and Thunder each week.

Now...most of Smackdown, all of TNA...maybe 15 minutes of RAW tops...that's a pretty big drop.

i inspired a thread. wow.

i try to watch RAW and it is a hard thing to do. Cena is sickening. i dont like his moves, his gimmick or his face. i wasnt all that thrilled with Lesner either but he at least had Paul E. in his corner. I do miss the days of WWE att_tude. with no real head to head rival wrestling is not the same.

I'd like to think there's hope with Shane. Triple H will also be taking over before Shane ever does, and he has a good mind for the business. When he can't wrestle anymore, he'll pretty much be running the show.

The general belief is that between Vince's two kids, Shane's more in tune with actual wrestling whereas Steph's all about these John Cena/Batista/Chris Masters types, cross-promoting, and elaborate skits.

It's also generally believed that if Vince ever retires or kicks it, Steph and HHH, not Shane, will take over running the day to day stuff.

The good part about that is that there's a good chance she'll run it into the ground allowing another company to step up and create some competition.

It'd be really amazing to see Shane take interest in possibly running against the WWE one day. Perhaps take that whole Invasion storyline and turn it into a real deal.

Thanks for the new sig, btw, whoever fixed it.

I still, to this day, compare wresteling to WCW's hayday. Nothing fancy just the four horseman, lex, sid, sting, the mouth of the south... you get it...... wresteling...

I dont know wrestling just seemed to loose it luster for a while
It seems to come back like every few years when you get a wrestler guest starring but we can hope we dont have to sit through another JOhn Cena movie or God forbid Stone Cold

Well for myself, I don't have cable and really lost interest. Although I am glad I still have Smackdown! with my countryman Batista.

Every since he stopped fighting Triple H, he hasn't had a good match.

I think nights like Sunday and the following RAW are the reasons why we still watch. Great matches, solid storylines, anticipation, wanting to see what happenes next.... At times, they can pull out moments of greatness and entertain the hell out of us, but then again they can totally bite dog balls and give us crap. Watching the Rumble and Raw made me feel like a fan again.. and i try to go into watching each show with that same wide-eyed wonder, suspending my belief and try to allow myself to get sucked in.. But inevitably they go and do something so awfully boneheaded that it takes me out of the bit and makes me a critic instead of a fan. Hopefully, this road to wrestlemania will restore my faith in Vince and company, but if not. at least i still have my NWA tapes from 1987-1993.
