The New York City Department of Health assigns Violations Points to all restaurants that it inspects.  Anything above a 28 is considered unacceptable.  Fez's diner = 60!  It is in fact the highest (ie. worst) score of any eating establishment on Roosevelt Island.  Believe it, or not, he'd be better off eating at the Chinese place (go figure).  I randomly looked at a few Manhattan restaurants to compare scores and based on what I saw - 60 is an amazingly bad score.<a href="http://167.153.150.32/RI/web/index.do?selection=zipCode&method=nameZipSearch&se archValue=10044">Here's the link to the scores of all of the Roosevelt Island restaurants</a>(Remember, the lower the score - the better.)Starbucks   2Michael Falco 4Subway   13Subway  24China Kitchen 25Trelli's  60<a href="http://167.153.150.32/RI/web/detail.do?method=detail&restaurantId=40561970&insp ectionDate=20070124">Here's the link to the list of Trelli's violations</a>If you eat in the city a lot, you can look up your favorite restaurant's score on that website.  Though I probably wouldn't recommend it.  Sorry Fez.

You're right Gaia, there is some sick shit on there.  Improperly functioning sewage and insects everwhere.  Sounds like the epitome of the greasy spoon.

I still think the problem was with the phone guy, not the whole place. You could always stand outside ans shout something like "THERE IS RAT SHIT IN MY DINNER!" or "I SAW A COCKROACH WITH FANGS IN THE BATHROOM!" and that place would be gone!

Fat Don't Eat Out In New York Much, Maybe Once A Year.  Last Place He Went To He Had A Great Time.  It Was Called The Monkey Bar And Grill In Manhatten.  So Fat Checks Out The Health Site And It's Got 2 Points.  Two Points Is Considered Really Good, But Fat Was Still Concerned.  Mice?  Insects?  What's The Problem?  So He Clicks The Link For More Info, And Here Are The Violations Worth 2 Points:<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3" width="90%" align="left"><tbody><tr><td align="left" valign="top"> </td><td align="left">"Choking first aid" poster not posted."Alcohol and Pregnancy" Warning sign not posted. Why do you have to "take it when a grain of salt" when it's very clear that the lower the number the better the results?  I doubt anyone really freaks out over a 2.I always love when the "big government = bad" gripes stretch into health code inspections.

I was very happy to find that the pizza place up the block where I grab a slice a couple of times a week has a score of zero.

not that i can eat there anymore but i was happy to learn that Roll n Rooster scored a 9.  not bad.

Thinking about it more, the inspection date of Fez's diner was very recent:  January 24th, 2007.  This might help to explain why they were on edge and curt with him on the phone.Again:  a score of 60 is off-the-charts bad!!!

I work for the FDA so I have seen a million lists like this and even have a copy of the 2005 Food Code sitting here right next to me.TRUST ME: Do not look up any restaurant that you like to eat at ............but on the other side some of the verbiage that they use in the violations comes off sounding way grosser then what the actual problem is.(I'm starvin for an egg sandwich.)
