I went to the range with a buddy and his kids last week. I don't own any hand guns, but he has 3 (.22 with an LED scope, a Sig Sauer 9mm, and a .45).

I used to go to the range quite a bit with some friends as a lad, but it's been at least 20 years. He wanted me to bring my 2 boys (12 &9) for the experience, and they jumped all over the opportunity.

We had a ball, and I had forgotten how much fun the range is. My boys absolutely loved it, and they did great shooting. My 9 year old didn't think he wanted to fire the 9 & 45, but my buddy insisted. It turned out to be his favorite.

I had so much fun that I'm considering buying a 9mm for range trips with my boys. Its a great hobby for the winter.

Yea...the range is fun and it can be a great hobby.....but for me....it's more like a requirement....I have to carry a weapon and I have to qualify every now and then.....but I still love it!!!

I've thought about getting a concealed carry permit, but my sidearm is not reliable enough to really count on... also I'm not sure I want to put the money into fixing such a heavy gun.

I'll wait until I figure out what gun I want to buy, then I'll start working on my permit while I'm saving the cash to buy it.

This is only wierd cause my daddy went to a firing range last night, he's military now, after 30 years in the FBI. I've seen his 'targets' that he brings home, the best one was about nine years ago, it was that sillouette shape, and literally there were no holes except in the heart and the pinpoint of the forehead. I think he still has it somewhere in his basement, it's an awesome sight.

I haven't gone shooting in a while. Much like my guitar skills, my shooting skills have probably faded away.

I love shooting. I've been shooting my whole hayseeded life. Them SIGs is real nice-like. I gots one in .40 S&W, but if I cotton to it, I can put a different tube on 'er and put them .357 SIG bullets in there. I like the .357 SIG bullets better, cause they're prettier. And they make a bigger boom. Me and the old lady went shootin last weekend, and my pappy lended us his Ruger Security Six in .357 magnum. I like that one, too. Cause its all shiny.
