Now I am freaked out about what other info they have of mine, I don't want to wake up Monday and find out I've bought cars in Florida and condos in LA, not in the mood for full blown identity theft. Hopefully it's not as bad as that but I am still worried.

So here's what happened in the past few hours. I logged into my Chase account this morning to do my daily check of charges on my Mastercard and to see if everything is okay. First charge listed:

02/26/07 - Toys R Us - Sale - $238.

Well I sure don't remember buying anything at Toys R Us, and don't remember buying anything at all for that much money lately. I call up the credit company to find out what's going on..

"Did you attempt to buy $320 worth of electronics ot Best Buy?"

"Um, no"

"Did you attempt to buy $280 worth of electronics at <forget name of store>?"

"No, where are all these places?"

"Brooklyn. Did you attempt to buy $238 worth of goods at Toys R Us?"

"No. I think we have a problem here."

All the charges started on Tuesday of this week and ended on Tuesday of this week. Someone went on a one day shopping spree all over Brooklyn.

I asked to see if someone had gotten all my info and requested a new card. They say no but say a card was swiped at the locations in NY, they weren't online sales. I've not lost my card, it's in my hand (chopped up though), so they must have somehow made a counterfeit version of it. I have no idea where they could have gotten the info, I haven't gone anywhere shady and haven't been to any creepy websites. It's closed now so at least with this one card I don't have anything else to worry about.

Hopefully that's all they have and not my entire life's info. I'm going to run a credit report next week to see if any other accounts have been opened up in my name.

if you used it at a restaurant recently, it was probably just skimmed. this is a good thing for you, since they wouldn't have any of your other info.

Our chase card was compromised a few weeks ago. Right after all of the TJMaxx/Marshalls CC#'s were stolen. Haven't had any other problems since, just keep an eye on your cards.

A few years back, my card number was stolen, and I looked at my online account, and I saw this $1500 purchase. So, I called my credit card company and cancelled the check. A week later, I got a package with 3 digital cameras in it. I was like, wtf. I guess they tried to buy the cameras, but the addresses didn't match up for my credit card number when they processed it, so they camera place sent it to my house.

Down here in Fl, people were running a scam where they would take out the legit credit card scanners at a gas station pump and replace them with their equipment and everytime someone swiped their card or entered a PIN they got the info.

Somebody got my Mom's card recently, she didn't even know it was missing until a check bounced and she called the bank. Dicks spent a lot at one mall.

Well, I went online last night to check my balance and their was a $73.50 point of sale debit on it that I had no part of. Today I checked it again and it had a phone number on it, so I called and it was Verizon Wireless. I talked to a woman and explained I don't have any Verizon accounts. So she said theirs nothing she can do for me if I don't have an account and to go to my bank (thanks cunt).

So this afternoon I went to my bank and explained my situation and that I had an unauthorized debit charge on my account. The dude looked it up, made a phone call and it turns out it was used in California and happened to be across the street from a prison. What the fuck?

So I signed an affidavit that I did not make that purchase and will be getting my money back in 10 days or so and a new card within two weeks.

I have a feeling it was from online shopping, so I'm gonna have to make sure places I go to are safe now.
