Why do I feel like food regulations in America have gone back to pre-industrial revolution standards? Is it time for an FDA overhaul?

This very same tainted peanut butter sidelined Mike Golic of the "Mike & Mike Show" on ESPN radio.

I just realised my peanut butter is one of these. I've eaten over half of it already. I guess I'm stronger than salmonella.

I like the all natural stuff, but you have to refrigerate it. It's too hard to spread when cold. The natural stuff also carries a greater risk of making you sick.

The natural stuff also carries a greater risk of making you sick.
Until this latest scare, I'd never heard of peanut butter making someone sick. There are some interesting articles aboute peanut butter and cancer though, and the natural varieties do have more of the carcinogen-producing mold. However, both natural and processed peanut butters should be refrigerated to cut down on the mold development.

I think most natural peanut butter lovers refrigerate to avoid the trouble of stirring it everytime they use it. If I'm putting it on toast or a toasted bagel, it's usually spreadable pretty quickly.

Closest to the stuff bakers use.

Also, dont be afraid to experiment with other nuts. Almonds and hazelnuts make real nice butters as well. Whichever you use, make sure you toast them real good first.
