I loved Faith No More, but the whole Nu/Rap Metal thing was yucky.

I don't want to say Nirvana created that sound or genre, but their success was certainly responsible for spawning countless awful rip off bands. and a new genre of empty, corporate, radio geared, subpar crap.

RATM, Manson & RHCP (pre-Californication) led to pseudo/rap/rock metal shit like Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Incubus and Limp Bizkit...shit

And that leads me to an exception, unless someone can think of a counter; I think the Velvet Underground only spawned great music. Am I wrong?

METALLICA (I guess that goes back to Sabbath) but they did spawn a lot of wannabes. I can go from METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN to SEPULTURA and maybe a few more and not miss a single other band from a whole legion of grunting thrasher wannabes.

I love the Grateful Dead, but I'm not a fan of Dead cover bands. In fact, I hate cover bands. Dark Star Orchestra is good in a way, as in better than all the other shitty Dead cover bands, but it's nothing like being at a show.

I am embarrassed and ashamed to say that I used to really like The Goo Goo Dolls. I loved the Superstar Car Wash album when I was in high school. Then that fucking song "Name" comes out, and all the secretaries love them, my sister goes to see them at Great Adventure, my mom sings along in the car. I seriously thought these guys were the next Replacements. Aqua-Teen was dumb.
