So there is a very aggressive mixed breed dog across the street from us who is the same size as my golden retriever, and today, their shit eating son was outside playing basketball with the dog, who was not on a leash. And I've known this dog was trouble, and it always, always is aggressive, but today, since it wasn't on a leash, which I didn't know, it ran accross the street at us. It tried to bite my dog on it's FUCKING NECK, and if it had connected there is a certainty serious, perhaps even mortal wounds would have resulted. So, what happened was, I entered into that, no thought process, just action, type mode, and saw the dog barrelling towards us, and as it was literally centimeters from taking a bite out of my dog's throat I put my whole weight into it's side, using the strength of my arm between the shoulder and elbow, which I guess was because instinctually I assumed would be the strongest bet. My dog was fine, though totally scared shitless, and I yelled horribly at the fucking kid, but after I shoved the dog halfway across my neighbor's yard, the kid subdued and picked up the dog, saying he was sorry profusely and terrified, and brought him back to his house. An awesome next door neighboor, who was about to leave in her car, and was right next to all this, came over and made sure my dog was ok, and commiserated and was really nice. My dog is totally fine, but I was so fucking furious, you have no idea. Also, his cunt of a mother wasn't home, and when we came home from our walk no one was home (all the cars were gone) so I couldn't confront them. I think I will tomorrow, but anyway, I just wanted to vent this and see if anyone's been through a similar scary experience.

Also, ps, when I was an infant I was attacked by a crazed neighborhood dog that jumped into and subsequently knocked over my stroller, and bit my mother who saved my ass in the process. OK, thanks.

im glad your dog is okay. i cant stand owners who can't control their dogs. i had a similar experience, a pit bull once ran up to lucy and took a bit out of her back. it got infected and she was completely freaked out for weeks. i don't think she will ever trust another dog again.

my other dog is a golden retriever (my favorite) just had surgery for a third time to fix tendons in his knee. i hate seeing him hobble around in pain because he was such an active dog.

Great job foggy, I applaud your protective actions for your doggy. I have a pug, Buddy (guess why I named him that?), who is like a son to me and we had a similiar experience about a year ago. I was walking Bud at a park near our old apartment when this jackass who has a German Shepard takes his mongrel off the leash not seeing us on the other side of the small park. The dog catches a glimpse of Buddy and make a bee line straight for us. Like you Fogster, instinct just took over as I scooped Buddy up in my arms and went boots right to the side of that fuckin nazi attack dogs head sending him into a welping side over side tailspin. I was right next to a 5 ft link fence where there is a baseball field on the other side so I drop Buddy on the other side and think Im gonna have to do battle with this dog. Lucky for me probably, he was totally dazed by my size 13 workboot inside his ear and bolted back to his owner as the dude was screaming for him to come back. The guy comes over and I swear to this day if he hadnt started to apologize instantly as he did, I may be in jail. I was so jacked with adrenaline that I was shaking. I really dont know what I would have done but Im glad I didnt have to find out. Im an even tempered dude, but when forced into action I ve been known to have some serious retart strength. After I cursed the guy out for taking him off the leash I climbed the fence and picked up the Budster and went home. Funny thing about this whole story is, I dont even know if Buddy even knew what the fuck was going on because he's blind. When I placed him over the fence he strolled about 10 yards away and made a beautiful steaming pile!..lol

I still get freaked out thinking about that and when ever I see another dog while walking Bud, Im totally on guard. Lesson here, DON'T FUCK WITH THE BUDDIES, EVER!

I almost kicked my grandmother-in-law right in her wrinkled pussy on Christmas fucking day when she said was going to kick my dog. My ol lady rescued him (Buddy) from a shelter with a kill policy and has his issues (barking and what not) but he's not viscous. Even if he was viscous what's a 12 lb Yorkie gonna do? Our 8 lb cat OWNS him for Christ's sake. Pets are family...don't fuck with em.

Oh yeah! A pellet pistol?!? You could very well wind up on the wrong end of a real gun if you're not careful with that sumbitch. Christ! They've shot people for a lot less.

When kids would come up to her and pet her head HARD she would just sit there and take it. She knew what was right and wrong. AWSOME dog. She was my child. Hands down.

Anyway, I was taking her for a walk and all of a sudden I saw this yellow lab BOLT across the parking lot of the complex we lived in. I thought it was coming over to say hello. My dog started to run the other way. Well the yellow lab ripped the back muscle of my dog with it's teeth. I picked up my dog and put it under my arm and was about to kick the lab in the throat when it's owner came and beat the shit out of it. My wife came back from work early so she could take the dog to the vet. I had to get to work. I was pissed like you would not believe. I wanted to get the info but I could see my dogs back was bleeding a little. So i had to take her home. She was shaking like a leaf.

We had over 400.00 in vet bills (this happened in 1997) and we could not find the owners. I think they had moved out and that was the last we ever saw of those dogs. I was pissed.

The same thing happened to my 10 year-old dachshund when I was in high school. Unfortunately, I did not act as fast as you and the other dog clamped onto my dog's neck. I had pry the dog's jaws open and carry my dog home, covered in blood and my parents had to find an emergency vet that was open and drive her there. We were in Germany at the time, so we were lucky to find a vet who spoke English and happened to be in his office that late at night painting or something. He was amazing and saved my dog, who ended up living to almost 19 years old.

It's hard to describe my feelings after the incident. At first I didn't even think, my only concern was finding help for my dog. Afterwards, it was a mix of guilt and extreme anger. The two dogs belonged to some lesbian Army general neighbor of ours and were being watched by what I presume was her partner. Of course the dogs were off their leashes (against the law) and one of them attacked. Initially, I wanted to kill the dog, but my anger mostly turned toward the cunt who owned them. She was a general, so nothing happened to her or her dogs. I worked in the same building as her that summer, so I would occasionally have to see her and it would always infuriate me.

I seriously don't know what I would have done if my dog had died. Good work on stepping in and protecting your dog.

Some horrible stories here that make me feel lucky to get out of my situations with no harm to my boys. I have to crazy fun/friendly shcnauzer bastards named Bender (Futurama) and Fleury (La Fleur /hockey hall of fame) and when Fleur was a pup we had a very similar situation. This time it was almost 100% the owners fault and intention. I lived in Weehawken on BLVD East at the time (for those who know the area) and I would walk him all over the neighborhood and go the the little stores on Park back a few streets from the Hudson River view. Back there all the stores are owned by Venezualian, Cuban and Puerto Rican families including a little pet store. So they all knew us well and really loved my little pup.

So walking back there in broad daylight I ran into a group of punk 30+ year old assholes who never work and just sit on the porches and cause trouble. They were on the other side of the street and never messed with me before being I'm a young guy and I never pay attention to them. Well this time one asshole had his Rottie with him and I heard them laughing and mocking in Spanish so I knew there might be trouble. So I just picked up the pace and never looked over. Next thing I know I have three of the dickheads behind me in a jog with the dog pulling hard at his leesh to get at me and my dog. So as I get the the corner I stop bc my dog is actually trying to scare the rottie! I have to pull my 10 pound puppy away so it doesn't get eaten as they start to slow with the dog in a rage coming closer. I yell at the asshole and they play the old "no ingles" card and start to let their dog get within range with fucking smiles on their faces! I fucking went nuts and in one fell swoop picked up my dog and laid a fucking mean ass kick right into the dog face and then grabbed the kid walking him and tossed him into the fucking traffic. No shit, the traffic on the side street was a fucking cop and he ran out and knew the assholes by name and they tried to run while the dog took off alone. I actually felt bad for the dog but I had to do what I had to do. The cop said he saw enough and knows the assholes and will take care of it and just let me walk the dog home. Safe to say I never walked that route again, but reading some of your stories I feel lucky. Who knows what happened to that poor dog bc I fucking unloaded on him mainly bc his owners taught him to be an asshole and they wanted the situation.

Maybe it found a better home. At least I hope.

I had something similar happen at a local dog run. I'm there with my male "Pops", who can generally handle himself but a large mutt (90-100 lbs) and he get in a fight. THe kid who owns the dog is some teenage wigger with baggy pants. I'm trying to break these two up by myself, while he's standing right there WITH HIS HANDS IN HIS FUCKING POCKETS. For about literally 5 minutes I'm trying to break these two up, chasing them all over the run. His dog has his jaws locked on my dogs neck, so I grab the dogs nose (most dogs cant breathe thru their mouths with their jaws locked) and he finally releases him.

I immediately start screaming at the worthless punk for not helping, and he's starts yelling back at me "Fuck you I'm not getting bit" and we get into a screaming match for the next 5 minutes.

You know what I'll do next time? Call the cops right then and there. I'll tell them his dog bit me (I had some scratches on me) and that I insist on pressing charges. I actually wont, but I'll tell the Cop wink wink to tell him that I will, to teach the little shit a lesson.

A dog who bites someone who presses charges will spend about a month in the city pound, and then most likely be euthanized. I wouldn't do that except under the most severe circumstances, but its a good thing to threaten negligent owners with. Beats getting pissed off and doing nothing.

Foghat, if you forsee any more problems with that shitheap of a muttfuck, you should call animal regulation. My wife used to be an animal reg. officer, and it was very frustrating for her that people would not file complaints until it was too late. Legally deeming a dog dangerous cannot be done overnight, but dog on dog crime only takes a few seconds.
