Did anyone catch this? Am I crazy? Dave was playing Stump the Band with the audience and the song was Down by the Bay. Paul Schafer's made-up lyrics included "watching the Rider takeout Dave."
Last night, Letterman referenced WoW in a sketch, so it's not impossible that they are fans.

I'm pretty sure if Paul Schafer says "Dave" he's talking about David Letterman.

I got it, although like the Kingsmen's "Louie Louie", I think it is unintelligible at any speed. The words "Dave" and "Rider" are in there, but it could be "Writer?" Anyways, for now you can DL here, and I'm sending it to Mikey as well. SWAK!

I'm hearing "Watching the writers take off a day." Hate to admit it, but I'm 100% sure this isn't a R&F reference.

I think El Jefe and Dubbs are communicating with me through my bike odometer:

I hate to bring old threads to life but this seemed like the logical place for this. I got home semi-drunk tonight & put on Letterman for the first time in a long time and after the monologue going into commercial they threw up the following "After the break Ron and Fez will take your phone calls." They didn't of course but the possibility of more "slaw" calls kept me watching the whole show.

A nice shout out to the Buddays anyway.

I remember reading an interview about Letterman many, MANY moons ago that he was a fan of the WNEW O&A show. And Dave's had O&A on the show before. So a logical progression would be that Dave (or at least his writers) know who R&F are.

Neil Rogers used to do 'spy reports' for years and did other things reminiscent of R&F and O&A.
