<p>I catch myself sometimes, often too late. For example, if I am at work or whatever and talking to my sister on the phone and I say "Are you going to mommy's house on Sunday?" Sometimes people near me who over hear me will give me a look, or say "Did you just say mommy?"</p><p>Do you say Mommy or Daddy? </p>

I didn't say Mommy and Daddy when i was a child. I say Mom and Dad like an ah-dult. The clostest i've ever been is an occasional "Momma" as a joke, but if I called my father Daddy he would end me.

<p>when I talk to my sister, I say mommy.</p><p>When I talk to her, I say ma or mom. if i am talking about here to a non family member i say "my mom".</p><p>I dated a girl who always said mommy and daddy, and I could not stand it. It was a big reason why we used to fight. </p>

I switched to "Mom" when I was 10 or 11 and never looked back. My brother has called the parents by their first names since he was maybe 7 or 8.

Not really I generally say Mom and Dad. Though once in a while I'll call my mom "Roe" as her name is Rosemarie.

Even when I introduce him to girls I bring home or friends, I always say this is my dad and let him tell them his name, or I tell them his name after. </p>

I don't think my father has been called by his real name by anyone I've known first. </p>

Our father wasn't around much, but there was always the annual "Just because you call your stepfather by his name..." speech. </p><p> </p><p> </p>

I can not remember when I called my Mom, Mommy, but I'm sure there was a time when I did. As far as calling my parents by their first names, my Mom might get pissed, but overall they would just think I was weird or trying be funny.

Its interesting coz I can't even curse near my parents. Its like the words get stuck in my throat. I could probably get away with it around my dad, but I just don't feel like tryin.</p><p>And they're mom and dad to me, I don't think I ever called my mom "Mommy" and I remember calling my dad "Daddy" once and he gave me this strange look. We aren't really affectionate or stuff, so the generic "Mom" and "Dad" always worked well. Plus its what my older siblings called them, so I just picked it up from them. </p>

Oh as for calling them by their first names... the only times I have is to get their attention when in a crowded room full of kids with their parents.

<p>Ech... this is pathetic on so many levels. Grown adults saying "mommy". Cripes. That term is great if you are 2 years old (or as Bulldogcakes suggests).</p><p> </p>
