<p>Hey board. I'm going to be in Baltimore near the end of the month for 2 days. My job is sending me to a seminar run by the computer program company we use to keep track of all our parts and service.</p><p>So I'll have a night free on Thursday. I'm going down there with a guy I work with who I'm friends with and is a couple years younger than me so I'm sure he'll be into going to any cool places.</p><p>Any suggestions would be welcome. Probably looking mostly for a great place to eat where we can catch a few beers, but as I said, all suggestions are welcome and will be considered.</p><p>Thanks.</p>

Hey Moe, if you have time, otherwise don't worry about it, but if you do, definitely check out the aquarium. That shit is one of the best in the entire country. And, they totally revamped it three or four years ago it's even better than it was before. Don't know if you'll have time for it, but definitely check it out if you get the chance, you'll love it. Really great stuff.

Aquarium and little italy and the inner harbor restaurants are all good. I am not a big fan of B-More but its better than most towns.

We went to the website and we're fucked.</p><p>The place closes at 5 on Thursday night, and we'll be driving back to NJ Friday night, so we're beat all around. Believe me, I wanted to check that place out.</p>

<p>And just to show I'm not a complete douche, Fell's Point. Google it. Charm City is not that great of an area, but Fell's Point seems to be the touristy fun area.</p><p> </p>

<p>I have not been here in a couple of years, it seems they have expanded. casual, relaxed atmosphere and the shrimp in a garlic cream sauce, served in a toased bread bowl (appetizer for 2) is awsome.</p><p><a href="http://amiccis.com/index.html">http://amiccis.com/index.html</a> </p><p>It is in the little italy section, I think you can walk from the Inner Harbor area. </p><p>Inner Harbor has all the franchise restaurants you know and love/hate.</p><p>Have fun</p>

<p>On the musical front there is Reptilian Records which has a nice diet of anything dirty, crusty and grindy. Nothing really mainstream at all. Just a ton of underground, metal, punk and hardcore. It's in the Fells Point area which also has some nice restaurants.</p><p>Check out Fells Point Ghost (fellspointghost.com) for some info on restaurants and other interesting things. Cool area. </p>

i wish u were going during baseball season, id send u to camden yards (even though i live nowhere near the area) because its so beautiful. even for a non-sports fan, its an amazing experience. sitting in that ballpark with a dog and a beer during august is almost surreal.

Reptilian just closed it's Fell's location. I think the new one is towards Charles Village (Johns Hopkins area), by the ottobar (i'm going to have to look up). The Soundgarden is also in Fell's, but it's a little more mainstream in music selection. Still a good store, though.
Fells is a cool area. It's not quite as popular as it once was, but still full of bars. It mostly has seafood places, and few asian/sushi joints. The bars range from dive (Blarney stone) to good beer places--the Wharf Rat (local micro brew, specials on a Thursday) Friends (large beer list, neighborhood-type atmosphere).
The place that is replace Fells as the trendy area is Federal Hill. It's almost due south of the inner harbor, down Light/Charles/Hanover streets. Walkable from the IH stuff, if you are feeling bold. The area around the Cross St Market has bars and restaurants. I usually wind up at Magerks, which serves Cheesesteak type food. I've been to Mad River over there, too. But just to drink not to eat.
If you are down with more food than drinking, Little Italy is well regarded by most (I can't point you to a specific place). The restaurants are not cheap, though. I'm over in Greektown, if you are looking for some souvlaki or a spanakopita, it's the right spot. Samos is most people favorite, I personally perfer Mylos or Zorba's.

Fells Point is terrific. Not chain places but bars as far as the eye can see. And coblestone streets for you to tripped over when you're tanked.

if you want a decent lean corned beef, cole slaw, russian dressing on fresh rye, (not up to nyc standards, but pretty good), go to Lenny's at the 1200 block of east lombard street. no atmosphere, just working class types sitting next to white collar types mutually enjoying a sandwich that should be eaten over a kitchen sink. little italy is all good, but stay away from vellegi's too touristy, the rest good, but no where near nyc standards sad to say.

<p>Be sure and take a cab if you go into Fell's Point. Once you get there, don't go up South Broadway past Eastern Avenue after dark. It gets sketchy over there. I used to live there about 10 years ago. Everything south of the first Market is good. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area. There's a little restaurant on the corner (I beleive it's accross the street from Bank of America) run by this asian woman that I think is open all night. They have great sandwiches there and it's the best place around when the bars close.</p><p>The Fell's Point Station is pretty good if you're lookin for a poolhall environment and it's right on S. Broadway (if it still exists). Max's has like 300 different beers in the bottle and 80 or so on draft. It's on Broad too. Pay attention to the sandwich boards in front of the clubs while you're walkin around. They usually scream live/local music when it's going on. Fletcher's used to do a lot of local music, no idea if they still do but this is apparently what's going on there on Thursdays (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/flexmix" target="_blank">http://www.myspace.com/flexmix</a>).</p><p> This is probably the most useful link you'll get for what's going on in Baltimore:</p><p><a href="http://www.baltimorecitypaper.com/" target="_blank">http://www.baltimorecitypaper.com/</a></p><p> </p><p>Hope that helps... have fun..</p><p> </p><p>Badmonkey </p><p> </p>
