I called the show a few weeks ago while I was in the car. I think Nas or Pepper Hicks answered. Asked for my name and then put me on hold. A minute or so later I suppose I was let go from being on hold. I called a couple of hours later when the topic changed and it wouldnt ring. It was just silence for 6 seconds everytime and then the call would end. I tried calling again today and the same thing happened again.
Can anyone explain this. Is my phone number being blocked because I said my name weird. I had called into the show before this odd event.

that happens to me as well sometimes on xm. i dont know what it is, but i'm pretty sure ron isn't screening your phone number out.

I am sure it is just the phone software when a lot of calls are coming in

How can they build a pyramid without the callers calling in?

You might have been screened out if you had a conservative point of view, but didn't have a southern accent. That doesn't match their ideology.

Its not a bad question. i've had that feeling too. Its just caller anxiety keep calling and don't worry about it.

The XM phones are odd. When you're on and there are other people on the phone you can barely hear them.

When I called in the other day I heard Ron, Fez, Dave, and Earl loud and clear, but Shelle, Lilly, and Pitzy were on the phone and I could hardly hear them.

Sounds like the software they have only allows a certain number of calls to actually get through and ring at a time. SOunds like you should just keep dialing.

It's always busy when I call, probably because I always call on the topics that everyone has something to say about. I should probably come up with something to say about the less populer topics if I ever want to get through.

Yeah. If you want to get through call in on a slow topic during the middle of the week. I went from constant busy signals and NEVER getting through to finally getting through...all the way...TO THE BIG ASS PRIZE CLOSET MY FRIENDS!

But consider this. I don't get nervous very often and I thought I was ready for the air. I planned what I wanted to say...but while on hold I started getting a knot in my throat. By the time Ron got to me I was nervous but managed to power through exactly one sentence. So yeah. Figure out what you want to say beforehand. And get away from your radio or turn it way down or off. I knew that much. They're piping the show through the phone anyway.

Also...Email if you have something really on the mark and can't get through. They read them. It also helps with the show. Helps give them an idea of what's on people's minds. Especially good when something breaks on the news. "One of our listener's just sent this in..."

I don't know how they measure the audience for each show. For all I know XM might know from the receivers how many people are listening. But as long as the phones are busy? That's a good thing.
