A non Italian Mayor of Bloomfield doesnt want the show to film in his town based on how it depicts Italian-Americans. He said his wife is Italian and other Italian have complained.

I'm Italian and I could care less, its a TV show if you dont like the show dont watch it.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070308/ap_en_tv/tv_sopranos_rejected

You know what I find hysterical...when The Godfather came out, it was hailed os a Cinematic Masterpiece.

The Sopranos is just a modern day Godfather. It is brilliant television and also depics the modern day mafia, as the Godfather did back in the 20's on up. I am Italian and I am not offended in ANY way with this show.

It just goes to show what PC has done to peoples perspectives.

I'd say the Sopranos is more a modern day Goodfellas than a Godfather.

mmmmm maybe not more of godfather then godfater

it is a better drama in the general drama catagory because it is a show that could be on lifetime and spike but godfather's greatness is the male dynamic.

they arent compairable, even though on the surface they look like similar works

The greatness of godfather is that it is a male dynamic, except gf3 which is an abomination, and how one should act and not to act in general.

also godfater is a true heroes journey, and godfather 2 is a family's(male) heroes journey.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_journey

where sopranos is more of a true faimlys representation in the dynaic. which is representitive directly of the womens role in art and society where before it would have been superfluious to show that now it is an intrinsical part of art and society.

but thats a drunkerd's rambelings

I'm just pissed Spoon will never get to see where Holsten's is...I've been trying to get him & his woman to try that place for over a year.

Seriously, this is absurd & eventually I think this will go away & the scene will be shot. And hopefully they follow someone from the show leaving the place & driving down Broad Street, and past Johnson Ave in Bloomfield, where I grew up.

OK, maybe that's just me being selfish...but it would be cool. Plus, this is a mostly-Essex County show & a place like Holsten's deserves to finally be in the show. No one who's grown up in that area doesn't know Holsten's.

I live in East Orange, next to Bloomfield and let me tell you something:Bloomfield,Montclair,Bellville and Verona are 4 of the most Italian cities in NJ.They should be called 'The Four Seasons"(because East Orange,Orane,West Orange and South Orange are the "Oranges"....nevermind).If I were the mayor I would have accepted The Sopranos with open arms because the city will benefit from it.From what I heard on the news, the scene that they wanted to film there was the final scene of the series so that's pretty big.

This is nothing new. How often does one person make a stand against something on the basis of it being for "the good of the many" when in fact it's only for the "good of oneself"?

There are many who might not be offended by the Soppranos but because no one wants to hear an approval message these types of boycotts will always win.

isn't this the last 8 epsisodes of the show anyway? And they are already filmed most likely, so who the fuck cares when the show is done. This is a non story
