Tragic, indeed. Situations like this make me hope I'm wrong about there not being a Milton-like hell because eternal damnation is justified for the sociopaths who did this.

I hate to be crass, but I'm wondering if there's any way we can raise some money for his family, either collectively through the board or just as interested individuals. (Understandably, there wasn't any info in the news story.) I don't know how the MTA fixes up their workers for life insurance but, I suspect that as a working guy in his thirties with a family to support that he wasn't Paris Hilton rich. I'm fully aware that no amount of money can make the pain from this tragic loss for his family go away any faster, but I'm also aware, from experience, that financial worries can pile on the grief pretty quickly when a family loses its breadwinner so I think anything we can do to alleviate that second worry would be a good thing.

If anybody knows his family directly, or if the Site decides to do anything collectively, please either post the information here or, if appropriate, let me know privately.

As I posted in another thread, the tragicness of the duaghters without their father..for life..just makes me break down. As Hotub said, I also have two little ones and cannot imagine them going through life without me. I honestly don't care about the scumbag that did this. Yes I would like him brought to justice, but the more important thing here is Jimi's family. I will offer my paypal account to collect donations. However, I don't know where to direct these funds. PLease, if there is any information, let us know. Maybe we can do something for his daughters. I mean I don't expect a college fund, but perhaps a Christmas gift fund or something, anything. I will do the same on Wackbag.

Jimi was one of our own, we need to do something.

There was just an update on this story on channel 2 news. I don't know if it was already mentioned in this thread but there is a video of the guy that is believed to be the shooter. If someone knows how to post a link maybe we can help get that video out there and catch the piece of trash responsible for this tragedy.

Can we keep the politics and the "cute" comments out of a thread like this?

I think it's obvious that "That's Life" rules are in effect for this thread, with one exception. If anyone has a story about meeting him at one of the bar nights or other personal anecdotes involving Jimmy, you are welcome to post them here.

mojo, i can honestly tell you that my comment was not cute. i am mad as hell over this. if i said anything that might be mistaken as a joke, sorry, if you ever spoke to me about this or heard me speak about this on Ron & Fez or on my own show, i get choked up about it. Anger is the best way for me to deal with the sickening event that happen. again, sorry, i am having a hard time dealing with the events of what happened.

Have we gotten any closer to finding a way to do something monetarily for Jimmy's kids? I've been checking the NY papers but haven't seen anything mentioned either directly or through the MTA. A lot has been happening 'round here with Gail O's untimely passing and the press of every day events but I would hate to lose the opportunity and the momentum to do something real for one of our own's loved ones after a tragedy like this.

This is about the time I stopped listening to the show and yes, it is hard to believe it's been 4 years. A completely senseless tragedy. I hope his family has been able to find some solace in the past 4 years.
