Waffles and Fried Chicken? For breakfast?!

The cafeteria at work today has a waffle stand set up. But today for some reason you get a piece of fried chicken with your waffle.

I have never heard of this combination of food, but the line was long for it!

Waffles, perfect for breakfast. Fried Chicken, well, if that's what you got and you're hungry, sure!

But together? Waffles with syrup, a little whipped cream, and a piece of fried chicken. Gross.

I think it's one of those Red State things. Maybe some of the hayseeds can bring us up to speed on it.

At my current office, our cafeteria has signs for a Crispy Chicken Breakfast sandwich, which is served from time to time. It has eggs, cheese, and crispy chicken on a biscuit. Part of me is curious to try it, while most of me is not.

I heard it's also popular in Pennsylvania Dutch country. But they eat it for dinner. Either way I'm fuckin' starving.

It's also big in California saw it advertised all over LA and surronding areas

So if blacks like it and so does California must be a blue state thing

Our cafeteria takes it one step further - we have waffle sandwhiches. They aren't mcgriddle knock offs, they are waffles with fresh mozzarella, ham, lettuce, tomato, etc. They even put them in the panini press.

(Although I'm not sure I did it right - I skipped the maple syrup on the waffles and used them to sop up the chicken juice/grease. Yum)

The only potential down side is that they named the dish after The Rev. Al Sharpton. Oh yeah and the clogged arteries.
Chicken and Waffles for breakfast sounds great. I'd try it, but I never see it around here. I just had biscuits and sausage gravy for dinner the other day, fucking amazing.

We miss out on some good food in the Northeast sometimes. But since we have Taylor Ham, we win.

ive had chicken and waffles but it wasn't with fried chicken and it wasn't for breakfast. it was shredded chicken in gravy overtop of the waffles. delicious. there is a chicken chain restaurant in the south, bojangles, that my family used to stop at on roadtrips to south carolina for spring break. they served fried chicken patties on biscuits on for breakfast and they were fantastic.

when i was flying home from atlanta a few years ago i was wandering around the airport looking for something to eat for breakfast & they had a popeyes offering chicken & biscuits. i don't have a popeyes anywhere near me at home so i had to go for it. i ordered the chicken & biscuit breakfast & all it was, was a fried chicken finger stuck inbetween two halves of a biscuit. i dunno, while i love both, i just couldn't eat it as a sandwich. it was way way too greasey for breakfast too. just too weird of a combo for me.

I think there is a chicken and waffle restaurant chain out West called Roscoe's. I've never had the combination, but I'd definitely give it a try.

I was about to make the same ol' egg white omelet and oatmeal when I saw this thread. Now I'm thinking seriously about going to Bojangles.

A plate full of biscuits and gravy with some fried pork tenderloin or chicken fried steak is the best. I don't eat it very often because it's not very healthy, but I stuff myself senseless when I do.

Never had chicken and waffles, although I've always meant too. As mentioned above, its soul food, so most of us hayseeds don't know much about it. Sorry judge.

It's an Ohio-based chain, and they don't overcook everything like most southern-based chains do. I usually get raspberry crepes with my breakfast there. Damn good.

That "home cookin" is hard to find north of Arkansas and West of Texas. It's crazy how regional menus can be.
